Maverick - realistic dildo discontinued by Tantus - review by Liz

Maverick is a realistic dildo of exceptional size and girth. He also has the distinction of being the only non-vibrating toy to break the Top Ten in my collection, and the further distinction of being the only dildo I own that I would describe as being truly bad-ass.

Maverick is ideal for many uses, although my personal favorite is vaginal thrusting, with or without the added fun of a clitoral vibrator. If you're feeling ambitious, he's also safe to use anally thanks to his substantial base. Maverick is suitable for solo, partner or strap-on play (just make sure you have a good-sized O-ring!).

Maverick has exactly the right blend of rigidity and flexibility. His smooth, sleek feel is pleasing to the touch, and his lightly raised vein texture provides some extra stimulation without being overwhelming in the least. He is surprisingly soft to the touch, but firm when gripped. He has more give than a rigid plastic toy, but less than a real penis.

Maverick is made of 100% silicone, and comes with all the associated benefits of material safety: he is non-porous, phthalates-free, latex-free, and hypo-allergenic.

Looking at Maverick, the inevitable first impression is that this is truly a quality toy. It is exquisitely detailed and highly realistic-- in terms of design, this toy very nearly ascends the level of art. Furthermore, Maverick is perfectly shaped and sized to hit every one of my internal sweet spots.

Now, take note: this toy is not, for lack of a better term, fucking around. If you don't like a big, girthy dildos, Maverick is not the one for you, plain and simple. He has a serviceable length of 7 3/4" (of which 6 1/4" is insertable), and he also packs a decent heft, weighing in at just under a pound. However, his real prowess lies in his 2-inch diameter. Maverick has some "give" to his shaft, but not so much that you won't feel every bit of those two inches. If you're new to sex toys and/or you don't enjoy the feeling of fullness, Maverick may not be your best option.

It probably goes without saying that Maverick is many good and delightful things, but he is definitely neither discreet nor travel-sized.

Maverick has a few major highlights for me. First and foremost is his size: he's got the length and girth to satisfy every time. Secondly, he is made of body-safe silicone but still has a very pleasing, soft feel. If placed on a flat surface, he can be used hands-free. In short, if you're in need of a sizable dick and haven't got a live one handy (or just don't want to deal with the complications attached to the real thing), Maverick is just about the closest substitute you can get.

The only down side to Maverick is the same as his greatest strength-- his size may not suit all comers. If you've never played with something this size before, approach with caution and plenty of lubricant.

I mentioned that Maverick is suitable for strap-on play, and we did indeed pop him into the harness and give him a spin. He's substantially larger than my partner general prefers anal toys to be, so that experiment didn't last long, but he strapped in with no problem and performed well thanks to his relative rigidity. If you're planning to use Maverick anally, I recommend a good warm-up, a first-class lube, and a healthy sense of adventure.

Fortunately, care and conditioning of your own personal super-dick is a relatively simple affair, as he's made of pure silicone. He is easily disinfected in boiling water or diluted bleach solution. If you're not sharing, maintenance cleaning can be accomplished with antibacterial soap (or toy cleaner) and warm water.

To ensure your other toys don't get intimidated, store Maverick separately. This has the added benefit of maintaining his material quality.

Finally, be sure to use only water-based lubricant (and lots of it) with this toy. Take care of Maverick and he'll take care of you.

As I mentioned earlier, Maverick is the only non-vibrating toy I can honestly say that I use with any regularity. I'm typically someone who needs a lot of vibration to get off, but with Maverick, the feeling of fullness and the sensations that come with thrusting were nearly enough all by themselves. Everything about this toy, from size to texture to visual aesthetic, is very appealing to me.

To heighten the fun, use him with another toy or two. Personally, I find Maverick and a clitoral vibrator to be a nearly-unbeatable combination.
