**My First Monster: Mothman Has Arrived**

Mothman was my first true monster toy, and I have to say: this cryptid did not sneak into the bedroom quietly. He arrived with wings, ridges, a very serious curve, and the unmistakable energy of a creature who expects you to respect the warning signs.

Compared with a medium-firm Bad Dragon toy, Mothman feels noticeably softer and more bendable. The silicone has plenty of squish, so the raised wing-like plates feel cushioned rather than sharp or punishing. That softness makes the texture more approachable than I expected, especially with plenty of water-based lube. The texture feels more like broad, rolling pressure and fluttery drag than aggressive poking.

The sparkles are also much more noticeable in person than I expected. They give him a subtle magical shimmer that fits the Mothman theme beautifully without looking cheap or overly glittery.

That said, this is absolutely **not a beginner toy**. The insertable length is manageable, but the thickness is no joke. This is a “work your way up to it, take your time, and do not let cryptid enthusiasm override common sense” kind of toy. I could see it becoming more comfortable with patience and practice, but for now, it is definitely a special-event visitor rather than an everyday grab.

The curve is excellent for aiming forward, and the suction cup is sturdy enough to make hands-free experimentation possible. The detailing is fun, dramatic, and much prettier in person than I expected.

Also worth mentioning: **no smell at all** out of the package, which was a very welcome surprise.

Overall, Mothman feels like a soft, squishy, slightly intimidating fantasy creature with a surprisingly gentle texture - but a very real size warning. Not beginner-friendly, but potentially a rewarding “level-up” toy for someone who is ready to take things slowly and eventually earn their monster-handling credentials.

I learned two things during my first Mothman encounter: confidence is temporary, and measurements on a product page are not “just numbers.”

I went in thinking, “It is soft silicone, and I have handled medium-firm Bad Dragon toys before. I am prepared.” Mothman politely proved that this was adorable optimism. The softness and bendability helped a lot, and the wing texture was much gentler than it looks, but the thickness made me pause, reassess my life choices, add more lube, and negotiate with a fictional cryptid.

Eventually, with patience and some very determined stretching beforehand, I made better progress than expected. It was not an instant success story, but it felt like unlocking a new difficulty level in a game. Mothman may be my first monster, but he has made it very clear that I need to earn my monster-tamer badge.
