The D1 silicone dong is made by Maia, a relatively new manufacturer located in the United States. Their fashionista approach to toys has aided in building a name for themselves while bringing fresh, and stylish designs to the table. Their “colors of eroticism” mantra awards each color in their lineup with specific attributes. The Marcia signifies “soft, sweet, nurture and security”, whereas the Porpora is entrusted with “royal, spirituality and dignity”.

Suitable for both vaginal and anal use, the D1 has an angled tip and bulges in the shaft that may make G-spot or P-spot stimulation possible. Pair it with a vibrator, be it a bullet or some other type, and bliss is just around the corner. The flared base not only means it is anal safe, but it can also be mounted in a harness.

The base functions as a handle as well for handheld fun. Whether it’s for use with a partner or solo, D1 will do it with flair. Advanced users and size queens are highly encouraged to give this one a shot. However, beginners beware. This one may not be your bag.

Note that the silicone is very firm and the considerable size of this toy makes communication important when using this on a partner. It would be easy to hurt someone with this and that would put a damper on playtime.

For use in the shower, tub or pool, the D1 is ready to go. With no mechanical parts, it is safe to bring anywhere. Travel is made easy with the included pouch. Just make sure there’s enough room in your suitcase for it.

The D1 is made entirely of silicone. The material, scoring a perfect 10 on Eden’s safety scale, is hypoallergenic, non-porous, and is latex and phthalate free.

Providing more give than a rigid material such as plastic or glass, this silicone is still quite firm. It is very difficult to compress between fingers and does not have all that much flexibility.

The luxuriously soft silicone is right up there with Lelo’s. It is buttery soft and has a silkiness that feels divine against the skin. It has next to no drag and does not have a tendency to pick up lint and fuzzies.

Although the surface is smooth, the are some noteworthy textures. They are difficult to describe but can be summed up as large diagonal bulges. The textures wouldn’t necessarily be a problem for a beginner but the size certainly would be. This toy would likely be best suited for advanced players.

There is a bit of a “new plastic” odor but it is faint and should not bother anyone.

The neon pink color that Maia refers to as Marcia is seriously neon. The D1 is also offered in the Porpora, which is a neon purple color.

Roughly 7 1/2” insertable and 8” total in length, the D1 is not only long but it has substantial girth to boot.

The design is simple in theory. The tip has a large bulge and is angled. Roughly 2” down from the tip, the design of the tip is essentially replicated in the shaft. This second angled bulge is more oblong and only about 1 1/2” long. The rest of the shaft is smooth but bows out into a large, subtle bulge.

The topside and bottom side establish a wave pattern with the bulges, while the sides feature one girthier bulge below the enlarged tip. The circumference is more of an oval shape and makes size description somewhat confusing.


From the topside, the diameter starts out at 1 1/2” and tapers to 1 3/8” before bulging out to 1 5/8”. It tapers again to 1 3/8” and the smooth shaft below it comes out to 1 1/2”.


From the side, the tip is more tapered and quickly comes out to 1 5/8”. The ridges are offset in a way that keeps the diameter around that size throughout. The texture takes up roughly 4 1/2” of the D1, at which point the shaft has a consistent 1 1/2” diameter.

Overall, the size is quite large and would not be suitable for beginners.

The base is 3 3/8” wide by 2 3/4”. It is quite thin and malleable, and lends to the suction cup aspect.

There is what appears to be a plug in the base embossed with the Maia logo. This plug is softer and can be depressed more easily than the solid silicone through the rest of the toy. There is a gap around it that could prove difficult to clean should any fluids get in there, though this shouldn’t be much of an issue.


The plug is secure in the toy and does not seem to be removable.

The bright pink color and interesting textures aren’t enough to deter anyone. This looks exactly like a sex toy. Travel is feasible, provided there is enough space and discretion in luggage.

As far as G-spot stimulation goes, I never got that far. The slight angle in the tip and the dip just before the first bulge on the topside may be perfect for nestling into the G-spot. The same goes for prostate stimulation in men. It may work well but will depend on individual preferences.

The suction cup base is fantastic. It sticks to essentially any surface, from countertops, to bathtubs, tiles, and tables. It holds very well for as long as you want it to be there. Just lift up on the edge of the base to release the suction. Until that is done, the suction will hold up to all kinds of tugging and doesn’t slide around.

Though I was able to mount the D1 in my Pleasure Principle harness, using the 2” o-ring, I did not test it out fully since the D1 is too large for my partner. Instead, I tugged and swung it around. I did not find any thing that could lead to a strap-on sex nightmare. However, when I removed the back pad, as I often do when I peg my partner, I felt as though the oval shaped base made the D1 a bit less secure. It tended to flop downward much more easily and pull away from my body. This may reduce control if the giver is going “bare-back”, so to speak.

Also, never forget to utilize a good water based lube with this one, especially for anal use.

Being made of solid silicone and having no mechanical parts certainly has its perks. For one, sanitizing is made easy by either boiling for a few minutes, placing it in the top rack of the dishwasher or rubbing it down with a 10 percent bleach solution (rinse well). It is important to disinfect the D1 before going from anal to vaginal use or before sharing it.

For everyday cleaning, warm water and a mild antibacterial soap will work fine, as will toy wipes or a specialized toy cleaner.

Water based lubricants are the only ones considered safe to use on a silicone toys. If a silicone lube is a must, test it first. Silicone lubes run the risk of interacting with the toy and destroying the finish. In the same way, keep the D1 away from other silicone toys when storing it.

The included pouch is great for storage. It’s a soft, stretchy swimsuit fabric. Although this silicone does not tend to pick up debris, the fabric is lint free. The pouch is unlined and a thin material but is perfect for keeping the D1 away from external sources of damage. The drawstring stays shut well enough for storing the D1. However, for travel, it would be best to tie the drawstrings together for a better hold. The pouch is also large enough to fit the D1 along with a bottle of lube, a bullet or two, some condoms and the stretchy fabric will likely allow for even more than that.

The box is color coded and relatively simple. The front has a bit of writing and shows the company logo. This front side is actually a flap held shut by velcro. When opened, the D1 is shown through a clear plastic cutout and the inner side of the flap is decorated with a diagonal checkerboard pattern.

The sides of the box each display a small embossed illustration of the toy and include some very basic descriptions and uses. There are some warnings indicating safety measures and novelty use. All in all, this is not a highly informative box.

The box is tasteful and is more rigid than the usual flimsy cardboard box. Should a dildo be an appropriate gift, the box would be nothing to blush at.

There is a “novelty use only” sticker over the flap at the top. This acts as a safety seal and the dildo should not be used if it has been tampered with. Once this sticker is removed, the top of the box can be opened and a plastic form housing the D1 slides out.

Beneath the form is a hot pink storage pouch wrapped in a plastic bag and two information pamphlets. The first is the “color therapy guide” that shows all the Maia toys based on the colors they’re offered in, and awarding each color with specific qualities. The second pamphlet contains instructions and warranty information. However, the instructions are not related to the use of this dildo and only explain the use of the vibrating Maia toys.

For storage, the box can be used, or it can be recycled and the included pouch can keep the D1 safe.

Call me a wimp, but sadly, the girth is just too much for me to take. I wish I had more to say but I tried, and I failed. I will keep trying though. The velvety silicone not only feels gratifying, but it is a comfort when it comes to safety in materials. The suction cup base is tough and lots of fun. The textures are some that I feel confident I would enjoy.

I don’t see this going anywhere near my, or my partner’s, bum any time soon. Even though my partner is at an intermediate level, I’m fairly certain I saw his cheeks clench when he laid eyes on this hot pink beast.

Perhaps I’ll have more to add in a follow-up in the future. For now, I leave you with a strong recommendation to only get this if you know you like girth and firmer toys.
