Manhandler - dildo discontinued by Doc Johnson - review by ax

First of all, I have never had a dildo before. That said, this is a beginner's review.

This toy comes in a basic plastic case, not suitable for gifts. It is easy to open but is definitely not discreet. There are no instructions, though it does say on the package that this toy "loves" silicone lube.

Upon opening it, this toy has a VERY STRONG SMELL (even though the packaging says that it is odor free, this is not true). It smells like candles in a way. This is something that has not gone away and I have had it for several weeks. I live in a very small apartment and sometimes I can smell it when I walk in the door even though it is in my dresser.

It is quite large and rather heavy. It would hurt if you slapped someone with it, but it's heaviness does not impede its use. It is very long and I find that the handle is not necessary really. I have a hard time getting this inside of me far enough to the point where I would use the handle, but this may be just me. I have a rather short torso (this toy is like as big as my torso) so I find that it is just more comfortable for me to hold the toy elsewhere.

I do find that this is difficult for me to use. When I have it inserted, I feel like I cannot move it in and out very well. It feels like it is catching on something. This may have something to do with the lube I am using (Embrace Lubricant, water based), or it's simply a personal issue. Maybe this toy is simply too large for me?

I did enjoy using it with my partner, but I noticed that he did not even use the handle that much. This toy is easy to use, I will say that. It bends enough to allow you to grab it well and play with it, but the handle is not something I feel is necessary. However, this does not make this a "bad" toy.

The material is rubber and this is definitely a down-side. Like I said earlier, it does smell; it is not a BAD smell, just strong. Also, the material catches on my hair, which is very long, and pulls it. Rubber can be cleaned with hot water and soap, but it is very difficult to disinfect. If you buy this product it is recommended that you use a condom and/or do not share it with multiple people because it is porous. Silicone and water based lubes can be used with this toy. As I said before, I used a water based lube and I do not feel like it worked very well, so silicone may be the way to go. Upon cleaning, I noticed that when I try to dry it with a cloth it gets little fibers stuck all over it. This is mildly annoying.

I have not really found this toy to be comfortable for me. Due to this, I have stopped using it.
I still think it will be fun to play with sometimes, but insertion is too difficult for me.
I do think that this is just a personal issue and that this is really a great toy for people who do not have sensitivity issues like I do.
I think it is a great product and well built (besides the smell); it is just not for me!
