Fleur De Lis silicone desire - traditional vibrator discontinued by Evolved Novelties - review by Apate

A traditional vibrator that shines most when used internally and for thrusting. With mild to moderate vibrations this also feels wonderful on your nipples and other areas of the body. I found it a tad bit frustrating while using it on my clitoris because when pressure is added the toy likes to bend. Using this for anal play is not recommended because there is no flared base to stop it from being swallowed whole by your butt. Great for both solo and partner play, just be sure to lube the vibe up first.

It has a simple, yet pleasurable, texture. The ribbing on this toy isn't too intense and is best felt upon insertion. It is made out of 100% silicone, it's body safe. It doesn't have any pores for bacteria to live and thrive in, no latex, and no phthalates. This silicone has a drag to it and I'd recommend using your favorite water based lube with it at all times. The only time I didn't use lube with it was in the shower, never again! It wasn't enjoyable, but not painful per se; more like very unpleasant and that was just inserting it, there was no thrusting. Lube is a very good idea with this toy. Lint loves it, put it down on anything and it's covered in it. My toy has a smell that I didn't notice when I first got it, but now, I don't know if it's the toy cleaner I use or what. Whenever I bring it near my face, the smell gives me a headache. I didn't notice anything when it came to tasting it, just blah.

The Desire is a wonderful beginner's choice. It's your traditional vibrator, with some extra ribbing thrown in to spice things up. The silicone has a little give to it, as in, it's a tad bit squishy. It is able to bend in one place, this allows it to shape to your body and feel comfortable when fully inserted. It is not an intimidating size, it's smaller in girth so those looking for that full feeling will be a bit disappointed. You will find a seam that starts at the bottom, goes over the tip, then back to the bottom. You can see and feel it with your fingers but internally this will not be felt.

It takes two AAA batteries, which are inserted into a plastic case that then slides into the toy. This case helps keep the batteries from rattling around when turned on. If you do decide to travel with this toy, a bag would be extremely helpful since this is a lint magnet.

With one push button located on the bottom of the toy, it couldn't be any easier to operate. It has 3 speeds to choose from; with one push of the button to turn it on to its lowest setting, medium, high and off. The vibrations are located in the head but can be felt mildly throughout the entire length of the toy. Something that I really have enjoyed, is how quiet the silicone desire is, well most of the time it's whisper quiet. I don't know if it's just mine or all of them but while on the highest setting, when quite a bit of pressure is applied to the head of the toy the noise level increases from whisper quiet to a rattling sound. I notice this most when I use the vibrator on my clitoris and press down hard. Internally the vibrator is barely audible and the vibrations are barely felt. I for one, don't feel a whole lot internally when vibrations are involved, I actually feel more with no vibrations. I could feel these when the vibrator was on, they were pleasant, but nothing too exciting even on the highest setting.

This is a waterproof toy, they've done this by adding an o-ring to where the cap screws on. I've taken it into the shower and tub with me without any difficulty. It's always a good idea to screw the cap on real tight and test it before jumping into a bath full of water with it.

Being waterproof, cleaning is a breeze. I use soap and water, then pop it into its stand to dry before putting it away. Toy cleaner wipes and sprays will work just fine also. Others use a 10% bleach solution to clean their toys, I personally have never tried this. Boiling and throwing this toy in the dishwasher is a nono because it has mechanical parts that will be ruined if you do.

You'll want to use your favorite water based lube with this toy. If you use a silicone lube you risk the chance of ruining the finish of your silicone toy. That being said, you will also want to keep your silicone toys away from each other and in their own separate container or bag. I keep mine in the container that came with it, then throw it into a box that I got from a crafts store that also contains other toys.

I love how this toy is packaged. It comes in a clear hard plastic container that the toy stands up in. You just screw it into the base, to achieve this, they have a simple piece of plastic that sits between the toy and the toy's cap. The packaging is wonderful for storage, though it does take up a bit more space then if you were to store the vibrator in a bag.

Right on there, in the warnings it says "This product is sold and should be used as an adult novelty only and should never be other than external use.". Then it goes on to tell about not to use it on inflamed or irritated skin. How they're not responsible for any injuries, stuff like that.

Being newer to toys, I'm still exploring, figuring out what I like and don't like. Wanting to try a silicone toy, I bought the Fleur De Lis silicone desire from Evolved Novelties. It's quiet, has an alluring shape, wasn't going to break the bank, and it's squishy to a certain degree. This all seemed wonderful to me, until I got it, turns out this wasn't the toy I was looking for. My biggest complaint, would be the weak vibrations, though I can still get off if I'm already extremely turned on. If I'm not, then the vibrations irritate me because I know they're not strong enough to get me off, maybe I think too much.

It's not all bad, here are a few of my favorite things:

When I'm in a house full of people, it's the quietest vibe I own at the moment, so nobody is any wiser.
It's waterproof which means, more fun in the tub.The vibrator's shape feels amazing going in and out.

Would I ever buy the Silicone Desire again if mine ever broke?
No, no I wouldn't.
