Jolie is one of the smaller members made by Natural Contours, but it does live up to the reputation of the product line. Natural Contours is made by a woman for women, so you can bet that you will get a product that actually works with the female anatomy. The Jolie is a great beginner vibrator or a discrete travel vibrator for anyone. It also is waterproof, for those who like to play in the shower. With powerful vibrations, it is best for women wanting shallow vaginal insertion and clitoral stimulation.

The Jolie is made of a hard and smooth plastic. It, of course, has no give. It is very safe because it is phthalates free, hypo-allergenic, food-grade material, and latex free. The plastic has a slight matte feel too it, that I really like. This would help keep lubricant on it if you so chose to use some. The plastic has absolutely no taste or smell. I love this about plastic! The material used for the Jolie is a really cute turquoise color. While plastic is very safe for the body, it cannot be sterilized. If you have a desire to share, use a condom.

The Jolie is designed to fit your body as well as be easy to use. The shape is kind of like a J if held upside down. The slight kink in the shape helps the user reach the clitoris when playing solo without having to strain their wrist at all. I held it like a pen actually and was comfortable. The total length of the Jolie is 4", while insertable length is around 3". It's diameter is 1" and circumference is 3 1/4" at the thickest spot on the shaft. The head of the vibrator is flattened to provide a larger surface area to stimulate the clitoris. This area is 3/4" across. I have a small clitoris, but I think this would be adequate for most, if not all women. Because, the Jolie is meant for external stimulation, I think this vibrator is suitable for all experience levels.

The controls are located at the base of the toy, where the shaft is a bit slimmer. The dial at the base has four words written above it in various spots, to show the controls. In order: open, close, off, and on. I am not really sure what the purpose of close is since having it in the off position keeps it closed. But to turn the toy on, turn the dial all the way to the right on position. The dial is rather rigid and hard to turn at first. Since there is only one speed, this can be a blessing. It won't randomly turn off, on, or change on you. The one speed is POWERFUL and louder than average, although not the loudest toy I own. Once the vibrator is pressed up against the body, the noise is stifled quite a bit.

I really loved the shape of the Jolie; it found my clit with ease and took the job out of it for me. I found that the vibrations were very deep and could be felt throughout the entire toy. My finger tips went numb if I used it for an extended period of time. But the Jolie has the power to bring you to finish with the speed of a quarter horse. The vibrations drove me to the edge really quickly, almost too quickly sometimes because I couldn't control myself unless I pulled the toy away. The first time I used the Jolie I finished and forced myself to not pull away. I didn't like it this way. I found that since they were a bit too strong for me, wearing a pair of thin spandex shorts or panties as a cushion did the trick.

The Jolie passed the shower and tub test as well. In the shower it couldn't be heard at all and in the tub it was slightly less loud. The material's matte feel made it easy to hold as well as the dial's grooves. I didn't drop the soap with this one.

The plastic material can be used with oil, water, or silicone lubricant, although I found that I didn't need any. To store, you can use the packaging it came in or simply leave it as is. To clean, use soap and water, or a rubbing alcohol (isopropyl) on the surface. When not in use, remove the battery.

The Jolie's packaging matches its simple design. It comes in a box just large enough to house her. The box has an open top that slides in a frosted plastic sleeve, so the toy can be seen from the outside. The plastic sleeve says "Natural Contours-Waterproof personal massager-Jolie" on the front and looks rather discrete. The sides have a picture of Jolie is an 80's style stippling ink print. I love this! It makes the whole thing look so retro. The back explains that is was designed in Europe and then a bit about the toy. It concludes saying it is made in China. Inside the box, with the Jolie, is a small paper insert explaining how to use the toy, insert batteries, and how to care for waterproof use.

I did use the Jolie for shallow vaginal penetration as well. The deep vibrations could be felt all over. I didn't feel this could make me finish, but it was very soothing. For a creative flair and a bit of variety, you could use these simple sleeves to use for shallow vaginal penetration. They weren't great for other toys, but the Jolie's size is perfect for them!

I am giving the Jolie 4 stars because it works great as intended, has no smell, only uses one battery, and is super powerful. It only has one speed, and can be loud, but the price and performance make up for this.
