Rechargeable thrusting rabbit vibrator

Not bad, but not my favourite

This turned out to not be the toy for me, but it could be the toy for someone else. I didn't like the location of the ribs for the thrusting joint, and I found that the thrusting mechanism bogged down too easily with the way I use my toys. However, the silicone feels amazing, and this toy has some great features that other thrusters don't have.

First impression

I love thrusting vibrators, so I was very excited to try out the Sensu. It was a little different from the other thrusters I'd tried. The thrusting joint was at the base of the shaft, rather than halfway up the insertable portion of the shaft like many other designs. It also boasted a shaft that had vibration AND thrusting, which really appealed to me. Sadly, however, the Sensu just didn't really deliver for me the way that my other thrusters have. I don't think it's a bad toy, and I'm sure it will work great for many people, but it just didn't hit the right spots for me.

The Sensu arrived with several other purchases in Eden's usual nondescript brown shipping box. Not even the sender ("Web Merchants") will give nosey neighbours or housemates any inkling of the nature of what's inside your package, so those with privacy concerns can rest easy.

Inside the box and nestled in brown shipping paper, the Sensu was contained inside a simple sealed plastic bag, along with a black USB charging cable and a black mesh drawstring bag for storage. Upon removing the Sensu from this minimal packaging, I was instantly impressed by the quality of the silicone. It's extremely soft and smooth, and my fingers glid over it with virtually no drag. The Sensu has a series of small ribs at the base of the shaft that allows the thrusting joint to expand and contract, allowing the shaft to thrust back and forth. These ribs are very soft and flexible, which was a relief, as I wasn't quite sure how they would feel rubbing against the entrance to my vagina. The clit attachment, which is shaped like a rabbit, is very flexible and bendy where it attaches to the shaft, and has short, soft little rabbit ears. The shaft has an insertable length of between 4-5 inches (depending on whether you only insert it up to the ribbing, or insert it past the ribbing to the base of the clit attachment), and a circumference of about 4 inches at the widest point. The shaft has some degree of flexibility to it (which is somewhat unusual for a thruster), and has some vague realistic detailing in the form of a defined head and some subtle wrinkles/texturing.

Like most Eden-brand toys I've purchased, this one arrived with a charge, so I checked out the toy's functions. This toy has three buttons. The middle button is the power button, and turns the toy on and off with a quick push (you don't have to hold it down). The top button controls the thrusting in the shaft. You can choose between a slower thrusting speed, a faster thrusting speed, and a setting that alternates between slower and faster thrusts. The bottom button controls the vibrations in the shaft and clit attachment. It appeared to have two different intensities of steady vibration to choose from, plus a variety of patterns. The clit attachment and the shaft vibrate with the same settings, although the vibrations in the clit attachment are a good deal stronger than the vibrations in the shaft. The shaft vibrations were pretty weak, honestly, which was a little disappointing, but the vibrations in the clit attachment seemed adequate (not knock-your-socks-off strong, but strong enough to get the job done). I really liked the different options for the thrusting, as well as the fact that you could control the thrusting and vibrating separately. While I was disappointed by the weak vibrations in the shaft, I was still very excited to give the Sensu a spin.

First Use

I fully charged my new Sensu and then took it off to the bathroom sink for a quick wash. As this toy is waterproof and made from silicone (10/10 on Eden's safety scale, non-porous and hypoallergenic), it's extremely easy to clean and care for. You can wash it either with a toy cleaner or mild soap and water (I use toy cleaner). If you feel the need to sanitise it, you can clean it with rubbing alcohol or a 5-10% bleach solution (just be sure to rinse thoroughly). Since this toy has mechanical parts, you cannot boil it or put it through the dishwasher, as the heat would destroy its mechanics. The only thing to be aware of with silicone is to stick to using water-based lube (no silicone or oil-based lubes), and to keep it from coming into prolonged contact with other sex toys (silicone or otherwise) during storage since the various materials can sometimes interact strangely with one another.

Once my new toy was charged and clean, I settled down on top of a towel on my bed, propped up on a pile of pillows, and pulled up a sexy short story on my phone. I turned on the Sensu's vibrations and used the head of the shaft to tease my clit and vulva as I read. While the vibrations are not very strong, they do work very well for teasing, and before long I found myself becoming quite aroused, so I applied a small amount of water-based lube to the head of the Sensu and slid it into my vagina. It slid in easily and comfortably, although I honestly wasn't quite sure if I was supposed to push it in deep enough so that the ribbing at the base was just inside my vagina, or if I was supposed to leave that part of the toy outside my body. I initially opted to sort of split the difference, and had the ribbing sort of right at my outer labia, which seemed to be the best position for the clit arm to hit my clitoris, and turned on the thrusting. The thrusting felt nice, although I found the sensation of the ribs expanding and contracting right at my labia to feel a little strange. Not painful or uncomfortable but just....strange. I tried pushing the toy deeper into my vagina, to see if the ribs felt better once they were inside my body....but that seemed to cause the thrusting to get bogged down and pretty much stop completely. I switched to the higher thrusting speed and found that I didn't encounter that problem so much on the higher speed, although when I tried to angle the toy upwards to thrust better against my G-spot, I still encountered it getting a little bogged down (though not nearly as badly as on the slower speed).

Eventually, I found that the thrusting worked best when the ribbing was left at least slightly outside my body. Having the ribbing actually inside my vaginal opening seemed to cause issues with it getting bogged down, and it seemed that the best way to overcome that while still being able to angle the toy to hit my G-spot was to pull the toy out slightly and keep the ribbing just outside my outer labia. But once again, I found the sensation of the ribs rubbing that outer labial area to be kind of strange and distracting. I just had a lot of trouble getting the toy positioned so that it was hitting the right spots for me and not getting bogged down, which was annoying. I was eventually able to have an orgasm on my first date with this toy, but frankly, it was a little lackluster, and getting there was kind of frustrating.

All in all, it definitely wasn't one of my best first dates with a new toy.

Further Experience

I was hoping that perhaps this toy just had a bit of a learning curve and that eventually I'd get it figured out....but subsequent uses have presented the same problems for me. I wanted to love this toy, but I just don't. I really need to be able to angle toys upwards fairly sharply in order to properly stimulate my G-spot, and the thrusting mechanism in this toy just doesn't appear to have enough power to be able to handle that. I continue to find the ribbing at the base of the toy sort of annoying and distracting during use, and much prefer thruster designs that have the thrusting joint higher up on the shaft of the toy. I do enjoy the fact that the shaft vibrates, but I really wish the vibrations were stronger.

I feel like someone else may very well love this toy. I don't think it's a bad toy, but it just doesn't seem like its design works terribly well for my anatomy and preferences. If you enjoy having your outer labia around your vaginal opening stimulated, you'll probably love the way the thrusting joint on this toy is designed. Personally, I now know that I vastly prefer to have the stimulation from that ribbing more internal, but I could see someone else enjoying the design of this toy. And if you don't need to angle toys upwards so sharply in order to stimulate your G-spot, or if you don't really require strong G-spot stimulation to get off, then you probably won't encounter the same issues I had with this toy bogging down on me. So long as you don't try to push the ribbing in too deep and you don't angle the toy too sharply, the thrusting works great, and it's really nice that it offers multiple thrusting speeds and settings, because that's a feature most other thrusters I've encountered don't have.

So yeah, this turned out to not be the toy for me, but that doesn't mean it isn't the toy for you!

Vibration Map

This toy vibrates most strongly in the rabbit attachment, which I'd classify as sort of medium-strong on its highest intensity, and the shaft vibrates rather mildly (though it also thrusts). There really isn't any vibration felt in the handle, which is awesome.
  • Very mild, low level vibration
  • Moderate vibration
  • Strong and easily felt vibration

Orgasm Intensity

My orgasms with this toy have not been terribly intense, but I have been able to get there.

Follow-up commentary
I haven't come to enjoy this toy any more as more time has passed. I do still occasionally pull it out and give it a try, and while it's not terrible, the fact is that I have other thrusters that just work so much better for me. Having the thrusting joint at the base of the shaft creates a sensation at my vaginal opening that I find very strange and distracting, and I don't like how easily the thrusting action can be stopped. I do like the fact that the shaft vibrates, and the controls are great, but I wish the vibrations in the shaft were stronger. So yeah, my opinion on Sensu remains the same: it's not a bad toy, but it's definitely not a favourite of mine.

I've been really excited to try this toy but now I'm not so sure I want it! I may still give it a try at some point but I think I'll wait for now and purchase some other ones. Thanks for another great review!

Well, if you don't foresee yourself having the same issues that I had, then I'd say go for it...but the thrusting definitely doesn't have as much power as some other options I've tried, which turned out to be kind of a problem for me.
