Pretty in pastel - traditional vibrator discontinued by Cal Exotics - review by Sirena

The Pretty in Pastel is a traditional vibrator made by Cal Exotics. With its three speed functions it is designed for vaginal stimulation, but can be used to titillate other parts of the body such as the nipples, clitoris, and the external anal region. I would not recommend using it internally in the anus due to the lack of a true flare at the base. While there is a bit of an enlargement at the end with the ball grip it is not enough to prevent it from slipping all the way inside. The Pretty Pastel vibrator is great for solo play, but if used in some creative positions with a partner you may be able to hit that g-spot. But it is not really designed to do so especially not in a solo session. Best of all, it is waterproof and can therefore be used anywhere.

The Pretty in Pastel vibe is made of non-porous plastic which has a safety rating of 8 and comes in three colors: blue, purple and pink. It is made of food-grade material, hypo-allergenic, latex free, and phthalates free. This is a hard plastic that is inflexible, very rigid, and not squishy in the slightest. I really enjoyed the texture of this vibe. The smooth parts have a wonderful satin feel to it. One of the main features of this vibe is the prominent, raised swirl design on the shaft.

I could not really feel the swirls when used internally but when using it on my clitoris or the rest of my body I could feel them just fine. The texture is not too much for beginners and should not create sensations that would be irritating. Also, there is no drag against the skin.

I tried tasting the Pretty in Pastel vibrator and noticed only the very hint of a plastic taste kind of like a plastic spoon. There is not an obvious smell to the toy, but if you hold it directly under your nose there is a slight baby powder smell that reminds me of my Cabbage Patch Doll from when I was a kid.

The beauty of plastic is that you can use pretty much any type of lubricant with it: silicone, oil, or water-based. Also clean up is a cinch.

The Pretty in Pastel is great for beginners as it is not intimidating in size, shape or texture. It is very similar to one of my very first vibrators. With the combinations of swirls and color it has a very whimsical design that is not all realistic. If you typically are a queen size vibe kind of person, I would not recommend this product since it is only 1 1/4" in diameter and has a 4" circumference. But it is great for beginners and intermediate users.


From the tip to the bottom of the base it measures at 7", but it is insertable up to 5 1/2". I love the insertable length on this since many traditional vibes tend to be shorter. It is not heavy at a weight of only 0.2 lbs.

While it is shaped like a typical shaft there is a bit of variation in that there is a slight bulge at the tip that is similar to a nipple. This tip is great for focusing on your clitoris or another specific erogenous zone.

The base/grip is shaped like a ball and makes it very easy to control and hold during use. The single control button is on the bottom of the base.

This is a very basic vibe in that there are not any special patterns nor any light indicators. The Pretty in Pastel runs on 2 AA batteries and yes rechargeable batteries do work in this toy. Being that this is a traditional vibrator there are only three vibrating speeds: low, medium, and high. They create a typical buzzing vibrations which are all controlled through a single button at the very bottom of the unit.



This button feels like it is made of rubber but I am not certain; all I know is that it feels very different than the rest of the unit. To turn on the unit you push the button and it begins on the lowest vibration. To move to the next strongest vibration you simply push the button again. There is not a separate power button, so to power it down you must cycle through the different levels until it turns off. This is one of the downsides to this toy. The other downside is that because the button is located on the bottom of the unit where you hold it, it is very easy accidentally push the button resulting in either a change in speed or the complete shut down of the unit. Also, there is not a travel lock, so it is best to remove the batteries when in transit with it.

That being said I was genuinely surprised by this vibrator. On it's highest setting I would give it 4 vrooms and only 2 bees. You cannot hear this outside of a closed door and I even tested this without any kids in the house. Another great feature is that there is a rubber ring around the battery compartment and it is completely waterproof.

Care for the Pretty in Pastel vibrator is very easy. Since it is waterproof there is no need to be careful of getting it wet when cleaning it with antibacterial soap and warm water. But being that it is made of plastic it can also be cleaned with isopropyl alcohol. Make sure too pay attention to the ridges when cleaning and also clean in the treads of the battery compartment. Since this is where the rubber ring is to give the vibe its waterproof quality, you do not want to let it breakdown. Just use a damp cloth with antibacterial soap to clean the threads. DO NOT BOIL THIS PRODUCT!

Storage is also easy in a drawer or a hide-a-vibe pillow. Just be certain to remove the batteries from it first to help maintain the life of them.

The packaging has nothing great to note. It is a flimsy, clear, plastic box with some sort of frosted design. You can see the vibrator inside of it so it is not discreet and there is a big pink flower in the center with its name written in blue across it.

I would not recommend it for long term storage. It is best to just recycle it and find a more suitable hiding spot.

After the typical care I give all my toys that I receive I turned it on to test its power and decided I needed to go shut the door to have some much needed alone time. After stripping down I began to tease myself by tracing the tip on the lowest setting around my breasts which produced an arousing, tingling sensation. Then I traced it down my abdomen to the cleft where my clit resides and pushed the button to the medium level with pleasing results. Seeing as I was excited enough, there was no need for lubrication and I was able to fully insert the vibrator without any drag or pulling. I tried as I could to hit my g-spot, but luckily my hubby walked in and was all too willing to join me and help me hit the spot that I desired. By using it on me while I was in the doggy-style position, he was able to reach my g-spot with success.

Later in the shower, what was intended to be a cleansing shower, turned into round two and the perfect chance to test the waterproof capabilities. The Pretty in Pastel worked flawlessly in the shower with the exception of me discovering that the a hand slipping onto the button can put an end to the sensations pretty quick when thrusting.
