The Toy That Kept Staring At Me

If you don't want to spend a ton of cash and desire a good mid-level vibrator with plenty of variation then the Hot Fire makes a good choice. If you find having a smiling fish face staring at you and your junk remotely disturbing then this vibe will freak you completely out! This fish is waterproof but won't please the sex toy connoisseur like a higher end toy will.
Published:
Pros

Use

The Hot Fire, manufactured by Fantasy Toys, is designed to be a traditional vibrator with a few different twists. It has seven different vibrations ranging from low to high, to several variations of pulsations which really can mix up the sensations applied to your body parts. As far as the body areas that this could be used on, it really is a workhorse tool with internal vaginal usage being the obvious orifice of choice. The range of vibration speeds combined with the fairly bulbous head make it also a decent toy for external clitoral stimulation. This vibe could also be used anally, but the base is definitely not safe as it isn't flared nearly enough to prevent total rectal 'suck in'. Plenty of care would need to be practiced to make the Hot Fire a safe choice for ass play but the smiling head of this design looks like it could stimulate a prostate quite well. It's also waterproof for those people enjoying long showers or baths with some company!

This isn't a top quality toy that will be the centerpiece of most people's collections but the features offered are head and tails more than your standard introductory vibes made from hard plastics which certainly don't have the character of this smiling plaything.

Material / Texture

This multi-speed vibrator has an almost undetectable odor straight out of the packaging and after a good washing before the initial use we couldn't detect any smell whatsoever. I gave my husband some visual candy by slowly sucking it and there was no discernible taste either. There is not much give at all to the Hot Fire and it's pretty obvious that the Silicone TPR outer layer is a quite thin covering for the internal plastic body. This isn't a vibrator that will bend or give even with a hard squeezing with your hand. The texture is smooth (except for the smiling face which I'll cover more in the design area), but the big drawback is the seam line running along the length of the shaft. This leftover from the molding process is very pronounced, is present all the way around the toy (top and bottom) and reeks of cheap.

Design / Shape / Size

Fantasy Toys has chosen to craft the Hot Fire from Silicone TPR which is a great compromise between cost and quality for sex toys. The size is also realistic for being able to fit into most people's body parts. Insertable length is 5 1/2 inches with an average diameter of 1 1/2". The head of the toy is pronounced, expanding to about 1 3/4", and most users should be able to handle that girth without issue. The most intriguing part of the Hot Fire is the smiley face design at the head of the toy. If you look straight down at the top it looks like two eyes and a mouth grinning away (probably because it knows all your darkest secrets!). From the side view it looks much like a fish head to me with fins running along the side of the shaft as well. It does go somewhere wet, so can this vibrator swim? In a word, yes; the seven function speeds of this vibe are probably the area were it shines due to the range of sensations it can provide.

Despite looking rather cute this isn't a discreet toy. If inadvertently left in the open people will easily guess what it's purpose is.

Functions / Performance / Controls

We have always detested the twist type speed controls commonly used in cheaper vibrators so we must give two thumbs (and hard nipples!) up for the push buttons found at the base of the Hot Fire. One button is for basic ON/OFF with the other pressed repeatedly to cycle through seven different speeds or pulsations ranging from low to high to quick variations of the two. There was absolutely no issues with adjusting the controls in mid-session and slippery, lube covered fingers easily operated the buttons. While we tended to stick with the steady high speed vibrations, the other functions were interesting but couldn't get me off.

From a noise perspective the sounds emanating from the vibrator are average. From outside of a bedroom door the hum can't be heard, especially when a vagina is also providing some insulation. High speed is obviously noisier than low speed but still quiet enough that others in the house shouldn't know what you're up to. The power is good (and even better considering it's delivered by 2 AAA's) with the vibrations centered in the head of the toy. Coupled with the slightly bulbous head this makes clitoral stimulation easy and pleasurable with the Hot Fire.

The waterproof claims of this toy have been proven by using our scientific hot tub testing program yet again. Twenty minutes of immersion in the hot water and not a drop of moisture managed to sneak past the silicone ring on the twist off battery cover.

Care and Maintenance

Like mentioned earlier, silicone TPR (thermo-plastic rubber) is a good trade off between cost and quality as a sex toy material. While nothing beats pure silicone, it definitely costs quite a bit more. Silicone TPR has similar durability, compatibility, and texture but costs less for those of us on budgets or trying to be more frugal. The biggest downfall is silicone TPR can't be 100% sterilized which means sharing with non-fluid bonded partners is out (and anal to vaginal use as well) unless covering this vibe with a condom. For cleaning we use antibacterial soap and warm water. After a thorough drying it's stored in it's own zip-lock bag as we never let any of our toys touch each other just in case of material incompatibility. We've previously had a silicone TPR butt plug dissolve after being left in contact with a jelly toy and have never gotten over the harrowing experience!

We recommend water based lubes with the Hot Fire, but silicone lubes can be used with silicone TPR, just be sure to do a spot test first.

Packaging

Fantasy Toys has packaged the vibrator in a plastic fold over container with an insert mold holding the toy to make it look like it's floating in the box. The '7 powerful functions' are advertised as well as the fact that it's waterproof and phthalate free. The triple-A batteries are not included and the standard statement about the toy being for 'novelty use only' is also present. It's such a novelty to stick things in my pussy! The container isn't really attractive and not something we would use for storage. The box will quickly go in the trash now that this has been written!

Experience

Over the 2 years we've been reviewing toys we've build quite a decent collection of vibrators that range in size, shape, power, and cost. The Hot Fire just falls into the middle of the collection. The smiling face is cute (or creepy depending on how you look at it) and the power and functions are good but nothing really makes me say 'wow' about this vibrator. I have orgasms with it with the best being clitoral but there isn't really any reason for me to pick this toy over anything else in my tickle trunk. Fantasy Toys has made an entry to mid-level vibrator that does the job but doesn't light up any fireworks... This one may be destined for strictly my husbands anal play with a followup review to cover that.
