Better Than the Average Ring.

This is a cock ring that has a lot going for it--- safe materials, durable construction, a little nubbie to provide direct clitoral pleasure, and a 10-function bullet vibrator that's stronger than most, amongst other things. The only real downside is that it isn't designed to be a one size fits all toy.

Use

The waterproof Pleasurepillar is part of Doc Johnson's new Wonderland collection, which includes five similar cock rings with various shapes of upward-pointing clitoral stimulators. Rings of this style are designed to deliver more pinpoint vibrations to the receiver than spread-out ones, and the Pleasurepillar does a fair job of both.

Whether or not it serves to enhance an erection, to delay ejaculation, or to be worn on the penis only ring, as opposed to a cock-and-ball ring, is going to depend on the size of the wearer, as this toy does not offer a lot of leeway size-wise.

Material / Texture

There are two parts to this cock ring: the removable vibrating "bullet" and the ring itself, neither of which has any texture whatsoever. The gold tone bullet is made of phthalates-free plastic, which of course has no scent or taste. The ring is made of food grade silicone, and has a subtle, sweet scent if you hold it right up under your nose, but no noticeable taste. That may be relevant for people who opt to turn this ring upside down and backwards to enhance blow jobs. It's also silky smooth (literally) and creates very little drag against the skin.

Shape / Design / Size / Fit

While the silicone is somewhat pliable on the surface, it doesn't stretch much, so this ring isn't going to fit everyone. Men who have penises thinner than the 1.5" wide opening will need to opt for using it around the base of the balls and penis together, while men who are built much thicker may find it too tight for comfort when used on the penis alone. The edges are well-rounded and just under 1/2" thick, so what pressure the ring creates is distributed enough that it doesn't dig into the skin. Even better, it doesn't have any tendency to roll and catch hairs when putting it on or taking it off.

The clitoral stimulator extends roughly 1/2" up from the height of the bullet, and about 2" out from the inner edge of the ring, or where the top of the penis rests. In other words, it's prominent enough that it should be able to reach at least some part of any woman's clit, and if you put it on upside down, it can even reach it in a doggie-style position. That's something that many cock rings cannot do. The stimulator is also flexible enough that even during vigorous thrusting, you don't have to worry about it poking in a painful way.

Normally there isn't much to say about the design or shape of a bullet vibrator (they're basically shaped like a giant pill capsule), but this one has a little added perk. If you look at it from the end, the cap that you unscrew to insert the batteries is hexagon shaped, so it's much easier to grip when you need to open it.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The bullet takes 3 watch batteries, which are included. Its wide push button controller is very easy to locate "by feel," and just as easy to click when you want to change settings without having to make sure your finger is positioned right over it. There are 10 settings to choose from: 3 speeds of steady vibrations, a gradient pattern, several varieties of pulsing vibrations, and a roller coaster-like pattern. Then it starts all over again with the first speed of steady vibrations. To turn it off, you just hold the button down for 2 seconds.

For something that runs on watch batteries, the Pleasurepillar's bullet excels in offering stronger than average vibrations, and it's pretty quiet, too. Unfortunately, once it's in the ring, not all of those vibrations reach the tip of the clit stimulator, but the toy does provide an interesting combination of sensations overall for both partners.

Care and Maintenance

Silicone-based lubricants can damage the surface of silicone sex toys, so that's something you'll want to avoid with this ring.

To clean the Pleasurepillar, you simply remove the bullet from the ring and wash both pieces with soap and water. If for some reason you need deeper cleaning, you can further sanitize the ring by wiping it down with a 10% bleach solution or boiling it for 3-5 minutes.

Packaging

The box this toy comes in is sturdy enough to be used for long-term storage and, once you remove the outer display sheath, is semi discreet. We say only "semi" discreet because, in spite of its lack of anything to identify the contents, the box's off-sized storybook design and attractive Wonderland graphic on the front may catch someone's attention.

Experience

Alan says:
An excellent toy, albeit not one I want to use if I need to last a good while. It grips just tight enough to make everything more sensitive, so combined with vibrations going on everywhere and with the obvious pleasures of sex, it's not a good recipe for stamina! I've read where some ladies complain that their men last too long during blow jobs, and for them in particular I'd highly recommend trying this ring on the fellow with the nubbie down out of your way.

Michele says:
I really like it too, but I want to elaborate on the statement we made about the vibrations. For me they feel mildly moderate (like a level 2 or 2-1/2 on a scale of 1 to 5) on that stimulator tip, but then around a 3-1/2 or 4 on the bullet itself. So it's like having a gently vibrating finger sliding up and down my clit area, while the real vibrations are sending warm tingles over my labia. Well, that, and it does turn his dick into a gentle vibrator, too. So all together it's good when we're using a frontal position, but *really* good when he's behind me with the ring upside down. I just wanted to clear that up in case anyone buys it and finds the vibrations on the clit tickler too weak, then says "But Alan & Michele said it was strong!" Oh, and tip of the day: if your bullet isn't strong, try a new set of batteries. The ones that came in our ring weren't half as good as the new set we switched them out for to do the review.

I really like the design, but the fact that the vibrations don't travel well to the tip of it makes me pass on it. Thanks for the review!

I know that I'm such a superficial thing, but I love the way that the box looks. I know that that has nothing to do with how the toy functions, but it's so pretty. Cheers!
