Jopen dives into the luxury vibrating cock ring market with the release of the new Ego line, which consists of three styles. The Ego e2 is the mid-priced option, and consists of a basic cock ring design including a bullet vibrator attached to a stretchable silicone ring.

Cock rings are typically worn to improve erections and prolong orgasms by restricting blood flow from the penis. As a general rule, cock rings should not be worn for longer than 30 minutes at a time, with at least one hour between uses. This is to prevent the risk of permanent nerve damage. The Ego e2 adds a powerful vibrator into the mix to make this a toy to be enjoyed by both partners. No partner? No problem! Simply strap the Ego e2 to your favorite dildo to turn it into a vibrator. The Ego e2 is made of 100% silicone that is non-porous, hypoallergenic, latex free, and phthalates free. The silicone has a velvety, satin finish that has a fair amount of drag. However, this should not be a serious issue for this type of toy. A small amount of a water based lube on the inner surface of the ring will make it easier to put on. The silicone is soft and flexible, making it easy to put on/take off and comfortable to wear. The Ego e2 design is similar to all luxury vibrating cock rings with a vibrating bullet placed on top of a stretchy silicone ring. The ring has an inner diameter of 1-1/2” and a maximum stretched diameter of 3”, which should be sufficient to accommodate the majority of men. One drawback of having powerful vibrations is that it requires a fairly large motor. The thickness of the vibrator may act as a bumper and limit depth of penetration. The light is bright enough that it may be a distraction for some during use. The button also features a security travel lock that is turned on/off by pressing the button rapidly three times in a row.

The Ego line of toys comes with a rechargeable lithium ion battery that takes 3 hours to charge. At maximum power, the battery lasts for approximately 20 minutes of constant use. The charging cord on the Ego e2 requires a USB port, which for most can be found on a desktop/laptop computer. However, USB adapters are available so that the toy can be plugged into an AC outlet to charge. The charger must be inserted completely into the port and at an angle for the toy to charge properly.

The vibration quality is somewhere between rumbly and buzzy, and is powerful for such a small device. Although the Ego e2 does not feature any vibration patterns, the power level should satisfy most. Despite the amount of power that this ring can produce, it is extremely quiet and would be difficult to hear through a door.

The Ego is made of silicone and, since it is also waterproof, very easy to clean and maintain. Routine cleaning options include using a toy cleaner or antibacterial soap and water. For a more thorough cleaning, a 10% bleach solution can be used, although it is not typically necessary for a non-insertable toy, but a good precaution every now and then. The Ego, as with any vibrator, should not be subjected to boiling water for fear of damaging the motor.

The charging port consists of a small, self-sealing hole that could potentially be a more difficult area to clean should any lube or bodily fluids get on it. However, it would be unusual for fluids to get onto this part of the ring, so it should not be too big of an issue. If necessary, an old toothbrush could be used to brush out the hole. The velvety matte finish to the silicone has a tendency to attract dust, hair, and dander, so a good rinsing with water prior to each use is recommended. The Ego e2 can be safely stored in its original packaging or alternatively in a cloth toy bag.

The packaging consists of a cardboard box that is mostly discreet. The front features “Ego by Jopen” on a grey field that somewhat resembles a granite surface. The back of the box features an image of the ring itself, along with specific features. The box cover slides off to reveal an inner box lined with foam, specifically fitted for the ring and power cord. The package includes an instructional pamphlet with very basic operating instructions. Fortunately, use of the Ego e2 is fairly intuitive, so detailed instructions are not necessary. The box is reasonably small and can work to permanently store the toy and charger. However, it’s just as easy and less space consuming to store them in a cloth pouch or even and old sock.
