A little more than just kinky crafts

There is far more to this book than just kinky crafts. Yes, all the ideas are kink, but it does explain how to do a lot of crafting things wonderfully. Well worth picking up for any kinkster or crafter with an open mind.

somewhat useful review
I am a long time crafter and kinkster. I have had the chance to combine both loves a few times, but not near as much as I would like to do. Usually it's just my rope work that is a mix of crafting and kink with the way I do my knots.

I got this book over the holiday from a friend and it opened up my mind to a lot of new ideas with kink and with crafting.

This is the third edition of this book by Janet W. Hardey and all kinds of wonderful ideas and how-to's from Jaymes Easton and all kinds of other kinksters. The original version of this book was just a pamphlet with a spiral binding. Just a simple how-to that was passed around for a long time. It finally was put to print in the original version of the text in 1998 and went out of print a few years later. The version that is available here on Eden has new ideas that weren't in the earlier versions of the book, but some of the ideas from the original aren't in this one. Makes me wander what wonderful ideas where lost along the way.

The fun thing is, it really does read like a cookbook and is set up almost the same way. There is simple descriptions of what you need, material and tool wise and very simple explanations of how you make things. Some of the suggestions of where to get items is a bit out of date, but this version of the book came out about six years ago. Anyone with half a brain can find where to find the goodies that you need.

The diagrams of how to make some of the items is a bit weak. They are poorly drawn and not detailed enough to really see how to make things or how things will work as you are making them. That is the only real draw back to this book.

For me, the really fun thing is learning to do things that I haven't had the chance to do yet. It is all things that I can work into other forms of crafting and costuming.
Follow-up commentary
Over the last month or so, I have taken some of the ideas that I found in 21st Century Kinkycrafts and totally altered them into other fun toys and had the chance to actually use some of the ideas into totally different things.

A totally inspiringly creative book.

Good review. This has been on my wishlist for ages, but honestly, I'm not much of a handywoman, so this hasn't been a high priority.

Are most of the crafts things beginners can do, or is some level of skill involved?
  • Contributor: Lady Neshamah
there is all kinds of skill levels and for all kinds of crafters from fiber arts to wood working, and naturally leather working.

there is things that are for people that have never crafted before and for people that have been working in their art form for years and years.
