In Male Multiple Orgasm, Somraj Pokras tries to take one part of Tantra, male multiple orgasms, and write about it in a way that is easy to understand and put into practice. Is he successful? I think so – while I had problems understanding the classical Tantra texts, reading Male Multiple Orgasm was pretty easy. While Somraj has chosen to use some alternate, often Sanskrit, terms in this book (intentionally, to avoid the connotations attached to more common words), there is a well-stocked glossary in the back so that the reader can easily look things up – a great feature.

This book is written not only for those who are sex masters wanting to move to the next plane, but also for those who wish that they had better control over their ejaculations, enabling longer-lasting lovemaking and increased pleasure. This book is quite good at stepping the reader through the process of developing better ejaculatory control, explaining that it's a slow process. When Somraj talks about common pitfalls, he reassuringly points out that multiple orgasms are a difficult skill, the unexpected slip over the edge to ejaculation feels pretty good, and to keep on trying.

While the book is clearly written from a male/female perspective (especially the partner exercises), Somraj does bring up from time to time how the ideas can be applied to other sexualities. Still, a gay couple would have to figure out their own methods for some of the partner activities.

It would have been nice to see drawings illustrating the various sexual positions he recommends, but that is a minor detail. A second minor bit is the section of the book that brings up the Tantric idea of loosing energy through ejaculate, whereas current research indicates that regular ejaculations promote a healthy reproductive system. In the big picture, these are tiny problems that are easily outweighed by the rest of the book.

So, how well do these ideas work? I've yet to have a multiple orgasm, but I have developed better control over my orgasms through some of the techniques in this book – and I'm still working at it and getting better. It's a good book, and has tips that almost anyone can benefit from and understand.
