An amazing look at sexual techniques.

A fabulous look at the entire sensual experience. Maybe more helpful for people in a long-term relationship or very frequent escapades with the same partner. Less helpful for those looking for tricks to pick up one-night stands (Who needs 'em anyways?) A great read for beginners and for people who've been doing the deed for years.

About author

Book was written in tandem by Anne Hooper and Phillip Hodson, a couple themselves, as well as psychotherapists and sex therapists. So I guess that qualifies them to provide helpful hints for people who are new to this kind of reading material. I've never read anything by them that I can remember specifically. But I think I'll look into more of their works.

Content / Style / Audience

The book is full of information. Just not as full as you would think. There were a lot of things in this book that I knew instinctively, a lot of things I've learned over the years and a lot of things I was surprised to see. I'm definitely going to be rereading this book and trying to memorize more of the tips. There are actually a lot of things I'm waiting to try out once I find an available partner. Though due to the amount of information there is to process, I'm definitely going to need to be reading it again.

I was a little disappointed at some of the "Tips" that were, in my opinion, thinly disguised attempts at plugs for various websites and toys. I wouldn't have minded a list of toys, and maybe a few new ways to use them. But a good quarter of these tips were just toy descriptions, when they could have listed them, a reason why to use them, and brought in more tips. Or just change the title.

Design

The book has a cool blue design, it doesn't scream sex book and is easy to conceal in a bookcase. Every few pages has a very tasteful and suggestive picture of a position which when reading with a partner can really be arousing.

Personal comments

This book is a little thin for my taste, but it has a lot of really great suggestions for beginners, and quite a few tips and suggestions for more advanced users as well. For the incredibly low price, I advise anyone who wants to tighten up their game or a lover who wants to provide a not so subtle hint to their partner that their game needs a little improvement (Or a lot) to get this book.

Thanks for the review. Can you give any specifics, like one or two of the tips given?
  • Contributor: Kmonkey
For you my dear maiden, of course.
Okay, so here's one that I personally found usefull because one of my first partners needed a lot of stimulation down there, and now I know why.
"Tip number 97: Men's mistakes: The delicate bud of the clitoris is not as robust as the the penis. Don't touch it too quickly or too hard. If you touch or suck too hard she gets desensitized - Not what you want."

However, one that I thought just plugged a toy company was
"Tip 180: The fukuoku 9000 is one of the most ingenious newer vibrators. Working off tiny watch batteries, it fits over your finger like a tiny finger sheath and vibrates. There is no battery pack and no cord. Perferct for surprises during intercourse, since it is virtually undetectable. The kit includes textured rubber pads to fit over the device so that you can vary your finger sensation."
Yes it sounds like a great toy, and I'm looking into it now, but not exactly a tip.

Thanks for making me feel so special Winking

Well, I definitely agree with that first one! Some men definitely do not understand this, even when they are told a million times.

I see what you mean about the second one, but it could still be a tip. It does sound like an ad for this specific toy, but it would be great to surprise your partner with a finger vibe during sex and/or foreplay.

Again, you having me laughing. Sounds like a great review on a maybe not so well written book. I would love to read it just to see how good some of the "tips" are from a womans point of view.

You're of course welcome as always maiden. There are a few like that, little things that I understand viscerally, but can't really capitalize on till I have them brought closer to the forefront of my mind.
And yes I see your point, but if you look at just the blurbs on any sex toy they sound exactly like the one I pointed out. Not bad, just lazy and not really needed as a "Tip"

Tastie, for ten dollars, this really makes a great stocking stuffer or filler for a newlywed gift basket.
