Do not disturb... I'm busy reading!

This is a hotel-themed selection of short stories with a good assortment of tales exploring many different aspects of the hotel experience. If the theme interests you, it's worth checking out as most of the stories are well written. Those looking for more variety may want to choose a book with a broader selection of settings.
Published:
Pros
This collection contains a good variety of stories, includes many well-known authors.

Content / Style / Audience

This is a collection of stories about sex in hotel rooms. The setting is used in a variety of ways, so the book is not repetitive, but readers should be prepared for the similarity in setting in the stories. The actual characters and situations are quite varied, so there's a good mix of stories.

Anyone turned on by the idea of sex in a hotel will enjoy this book. Why is hotel sex fun? It might be the novelty of being in a strange bed, or it might be the thrill of a chance encounter or a hot one-night stand. All of these and more are represented by the stories in this volume. There are married couples looking to spice up their love lives, travelers looking for a little companionship in far-off places, and even a ghost story.

Most of the stories feature heterosexual couples; I think that's probably the primary audience for this collection.

Design

The text is set in an average-sized, easy-to-read typeface. The layout didn't stand out as particularly creative, but it served its purpose well and didn't distract or detract from the stories. The cover is attractive and unobjectionable. It states clearly on the front that it's a book of "hotel sex stories", but doesn't call to much attention to itself.

I'd feel comfortable reading this on a subway or at the airport, but anyone who looks closely will be able to tell that you're reading erotica.

Personal comments

I found this book to be best in small doses. While the stories themselves were all quite different in tone and character, the repetitiveness of the settings got to me after a while. I found that I could handle about two or three stories at a time. But this just made it easier for me to spread out my reading over time, so I think I ended up getting more enjoyment from it.

One or two of the stories were boring or otherwise uninteresting to me, but everyone's tastes are different, so I'm sure those stories are someone's favorites. More distracting to me were one or two stories which had some minor grammatical issues and choppy writing styles, which could have used some editing. The very first story in the volume was the worst offender. I was relieved to find the later stories much better written. I know that sort of thing doesn't bother everyone as much, but it really spoiled that first story for me.
