Do you enjoy incest, child molestation, zoophilia, and drinking pee? This book is for you!

I would not tell anyone to buy this book for fear of damaging them mentally and emotionally. This book has very good intentions, but the material chosen brings it down and makes it impossible to enjoy or respect it. I am never going to touch this thing again.

About author

I praise Nancy Friday for the idea behind this and apparently her other book, My Secret Garden. I think it's wonderful that she wanted to show that it's normal for a woman to have sexual fantasies and in general enjoy sex just as much as men do, even in 1975. However, some of the material that she has accepted into this book have scarred me for life and even caused me to have nightmares. I did not read her other book of fantasies or any other books she has written, which include: Jealousy, Men in love, My Mother/Myself, Women on top, The Power of Beauty, or Our looks, Our lives.

Content / Style / Audience

This book is a collection of personal letters from women sent in to the author describing their sexual fantasies and experiences. It has two parts, each containing four chapters. Part one is "Where Do Sexual Fantasies Come From?" The chapters include: Childhood, Adolescence, Looking, and lastly Frustration. Part two is "The Uses of Sexual Fantasy." These chapters are: Daydreaming, Masturbation, During Sex, and Dreams Come True. This book also includes an introduction and afterword. It is 324 pages long, including the intro and afterword. This book has a few good fantasies and a few boring ones, but mostly there a lot of disturbing, horrible, and downright disgusting ones.

For example, here are some excerpts to show you examples from the strange to the infuriating ones.
Strange: "I had fantasies about my analyst[...] mostly, I wanted to be a little bird that could nest in the hair in his armpits."
Sexy: "His tongue caresses me everywhere until finally he comes to my clitoris[...] all the while he finger fucks me in my vagina and anus until I climax."
Then lastly Infuriating: "I have a one-and-a-half-year-old niece who I love very dearly[...] I love her so much that I often think I would love to perform cunnilingus on her."

I mean come on! I think this book is really meant for people with a VERY open mind who possibly have some sick fetish of their own. I'm not meaning to offend anybody, but that is just how much this book affected me.

Design

This book is pretty subtle looks wise. I read it all over the place and no one could tell what kind of book it was unless they purposely read the entire cover. The layout is good and easy to follow. It's a paperback book that seems to be holding together pretty well, even though I spilled some juice on it. The book is 6 3/4 inches long, 4 1/8 inches wide, and 1 inch thick.

Personal comments

This book scarred me for life. It literally gave me nightmares that prevented me from sleeping. I would not recommend this book to anyone and I actually plan on burning it.

Experience

I had to force myself to finish this book. When I first got it, I was excited. I love buying romance novels just to skip to the "good parts" and get ridiculously turned on. So when I saw this book I thought cool it does the work for me and I couldn't wait to get all hot and bothered. After the first couple chapters I realized this book was most definitely not what I expected. I spent the entire time either bored out of my mind or completely grossed out. There were a couple that got me hot, but most were horrible. I am so glad to be done with this book!
Follow-up commentary
Horrible, disgusting book. I immediately put this thing away where I don't have to look at it. I don't want anymore nightmares thank you! Still would not recommend this to ANYONE!

    Holy crap.

This is the main problem with buying an erotic fiction or a fantasy book without actually thumbing through the pages.

I guess that is why I write my own erotica. Details! Details! Details!!! No children allowed at all.

Well I don't know about book burning, that just seems wrong to me because I have a passionate love for books, but I definitely do not agree with the material enclosed in this one, so disturbing! Kudos for reviewing this hun, glad to know to steer clear of this book.

I'm kind of scared to burn it because I too find it to be blasphemy, but I really don't want anyone else to come across it.

There are not many things I find disturbing, but from your discription it seems that this would be in that category. YUCH!!! Good warning to us all.

But, on 2nd thought, even though I find some of what is in this book (I have not read it nor do I plan to read it) very disturbing, if I play "Devil's advocate" it is better to have this outlet (reading and writing) than actually acting on these feelings. But still, it is hard to swalow.

Wow. I have to admit when I started reading this review, I was like "Oh, it can't be that bad. Closed minded...blah blah". Then I read the thing about the toddler. WTF!
Thank you for this review. I don't see how something like that was even allowed to be published!

    AGREED!

Just because someone admits to sexual fantasies that are outside societal norms doesn't mean they are sick or twisted. ACTING on the fantasy is sick or twisted. The human mind reacts to disturbing thoughts with sometimes strange results including sexual arousal. This is not an indicator that the person will actually live out the fantasy....hence the rape fantasy that most women admit to having. The thought that someone would violate your right to say no is shocking, scary and all too real in this world. Sexualizing it can lessen the impact of the thought but sane people know it's just a fantasy.
That is the lesson of this book and it was written in a time when even Medical Doctors were saying women either had zero sexual fantasies or only thought about romance and flowers. WRONG. We have violent and odd fantasies just like men.

Now if the reviewer had read the first book she'd have understood the premise of the book and where it was coming from. The forward of THIS book let's the reader know that these are fantasies culled from a time when there wasn't literotica sites or other erotica type books written for and by women.
Yes some of the stories are shocking and might even be sickening but they are just thoughts, and if you check out any literotica dump or even compilation you are going to run into stories that don't appeal to you, but really? Scarred you for life? Gave you nightmares? I read this book and these examples are few and far between.
It is a good example to prove the premise of the book: Women have rich and varied sex life that ain't all flowers and candy!

    Good review. Thanks.

Airen Wolfe, if you read it then you know at least 20% of the stories are about things that actually happened to them in the past that they enjoyed. For example, the one talking about being 7 and loving her middle aged uncle having sex with her. Also the one with the couple and their dog. These are personal stories not just fantasies.
