Exhibitionism 101

Real Live Nude Girl is a well made, nicely put together chronicle style book that is focused on sex culture, gays, and exhibitionism. This book is more reading material for insight rather than eroticism. Although this piece was not a favorite of mine, it is still a well put together book that might be very interesting to a Sex Culture reader.

I had never read any of Carol's work previously and I had no idea what to expect. I think she has a great style or writing and I did enjoy her first piece in the book very much.

Content / Style / Audience

When I first picked up the book and looked at the cover reading: Real Live Nude Girl, I thought this could be a very interesting book. I thought I would be reading stories about experiences of being a hooker, stripper, or entertainer. The first story in the book was very interesting and I really enjoyed it. It is titled Dear Mom a Letter About Whoring. The short, essay style writing was very readable, easy to follow, and had me interested in the book right away. I continued reading for probably two hours until I realized how long I had sat there deep in this book. After I set the book down and later thought about what I had read, all I could remember was the first story. It really grabbed me. The remainder of the book was more focused on sex culture, gay rights, and exhibitionism which are common topics, but not of grave importance to myself. I didn't feel that I was the right audience for this particular book but still believe it has good flow and a great author.

Personal comments

I read through the book once and then read back through some of the stories again. I wasn't able to become interested in this selection myself. It primarily focused on exhibitionism, gays, activist, and sex culture. I am mildly interested in these subjects, but not enough for this book to grab me. If you are interested in Sex Pop Culture I recommend this essay style book.
