Porn for Women - book discontinued by Chronicle Books - review by Delphine

Porn for Women is meant to be a gag gift. But I couldn't laugh. Is this what the world has to offer women for their desires? A friend got me this book for my birthday, and I could not help but feel a little bit hurt by it. You told me I was going to get porn, but then I just got pictures of men doing boring things I do everyday. I'm not the type of woman who is particularly impressed by men performing chores like the laundry or vacuuming. Maybe if I were married and had a lazy husband who I wished would do these things, I might find this book pleasant. But I'm not married. I'm like a wondering lone lioness waiting to be pounced from behind by a strong and rugged lion. I don't care if he does the dishes afterward.

While this book is filled with good-looking men actually completing chores, and doing thoughtful things for their ladies, it's not porn. I would liked to have seen at least sexier pictures in the book. Why aren't the men completely naked and hard as they perform these tasks? The concept of the book may be witty, because it plays with the idea that what women look for in a man can be much different from what men want in a woman. But, where's the meat As a gag gift, this is just fine. Though I can see some humor, in a way it's a cruel joke. O, why must you torture us with false promises or pornography?!

We get the joke. But don't you be fooled by the title, girls. There are no steamy pictures of men sweating and flexing in the sun as their wands point to the heavens. Let's be honest. Women want to see thrusting, and down-dirty male behavior too. Don't minimize a woman's desire to house chores please.
