The Ultimate Release

This is absolutely my favorite book in the trilogy. Anne Rice is a favorite of mine, but she lost me on book two. She redeemed herself in my eyes with this one. It is more compelling in both the sexual experience and the growth of the characters involved.

In the final installment of the Sleeping Beauty trilogy, Anne Rice takes Beauty's journey almost full circle. After being stolen from the Village, Beauty and friends are informed they will now be slaves to a Sultan and his court. They are not to expect to be treated as intelligent beings, and should never so much as attempt to communicate with those around them. In this new environment, the slaves are not treated as prized pets, such as in the Queen's court, or as disobedient slaves in need of punishment, as in the Village. They are treated as mute animals - disobedience isn't an option. In this new environment, Beauty begins to contemplate "love" and seeks to experience the emotion as Tristan felt it for his Master in the Village. Beauty's Release is an interesting look into three very different slave personalities, and how they continue to develop. I think this is by far the most sensous and interesting book of the trilogy. Beauty has much more depth, and the scenes that are created were much more arousing for me than any in the other two books.
