Can't help the way that I feel - book discontinued by Cleis Press Inc. - review by Lady Neshamah

I have said before that I am a major fan of a good erotica that is more for the black community than anything. I can't tell you why I like it so much, but I really do. Usually when I am looking for erotica that is less kinky and is just hot, I will always grab myself a book like that.

After reading a number of dud books, I picked up Can't Help The Way That I Feel in the hopes of finding something very hot and worth my time. It drew me in because the book is edited by the Emmy award-winning and Essence bestselling author Lori Bryant-Woolridge. So I knew in my gut that this one was going to be a winner and I was totally right.

All that I can really say is that this is what great black erotica should be all the time. All the characters that are in the stories are warm and likable people. You actually care about what is going on in their lives other than the amazing sex they are all having. They seem like the people that you would see and know from your neighborhood. They are real, deep and richly written.

The stories are fun and sometimes are very tongue in cheek with what is going on. There is a lot of subtle nudge nudge wink wink going on between the authors and the readers. And that makes the stories a very fast read. Some of them even feel like you are more watching a sex sitcom than reading a book.

The sex is very very hot, as well it should be. But it's not cocks, tits, asses and pussies in your face. It's more sensual than pornographic. I wasn't really expecting that, but I ended up liking it a lot more than I was ready to.

No mater what you are race or ethnicity wise, if you like a good read and very steamy sex in your books, it's well worth picking up Can't Help The Way That I Feel.

I have to say that I have now read Can't Help The Way That I Feel a few times and it is actually impacting the writing that I am doing.
