I had never read anything by Violet Blue before, and I must say that I was so impressed with this book that I will be tracking down more of her work. This book is very frank and concise. I loved how candid the authors dialogue came across. It was like she was sitting in the room, just talking to a friend. However, this book is not for the easily offended. Violet Blue uses blunt, and sometimes crass (to some), language. This is a no-holds-barred instruction manual.

This book was written in a very candid, yet extremely informative format. I absolutely loved the way the authors voice came through the text. This book would be helpful for anyone looking to improve their cunnilingus skills, and also for women who are self-conscious about receiving oral sex, or are concerned about their anatomy being "normal" (taste, smell, etc). I would not suggest this book to anyone who is not comfortable hearing the common "street" terms for genitalia, sex acts, or any of the like. The author writes as if she is speaking to a friend, which makes the style very informal and comfortable. She is also quite funny, and who doesn't appreciate a good sense of humor when speaking about potentially uncomfortable subjects?

The book is paperback, but sturdy. It is a relatively small book; one that is easily kept in a bedside drawer for quick reference. The only qualm I had with the design was that any pictures in the book were somewhat crudely drawn illustrations. I would have appreciated some actual photos, or even just more precise drawings, but that is just my taste.

Reading this book helped me to work on some of my own insecurities about receiving oral sex. The author really tackles the most common questions, fears, or misgivings women may have about receiving oral sex.
