Violet Blue is one of the most down to earth yet knowledgeable authors you will find in sexual instruction books. She has appeared on CNN, writes for O and the UN sponsored International Health Organization. She also teaches classes at UC Berkeley and UCSF. Not only that, but she has proven an invaluable resource to counselors. Thus, she knows her topic well and is able to transcribe it to the reader with great ease.

The Ultimate Guide to Cunnilingus is the first book I have read by Blue. I poured into it enthralled by not only her exquisite writing ability but also the detailed information given.

The Ultimate Guide to Cunnilingus is meant to be an instructional guide to oral sex for women. Although it is geared towards lesbian couples I found it extremely useful for heterosexual encounters. The book itself deals with the anatomy, both external and internal of the female sexual organs. Perfect for a woman who has not yet explored herself. The author's style is engaging and not intimidating. Although I was reading about sex I felt as if I were also reading a well written novel. That being said, there is a good deal of erotica strewn in here and there to entice you. Couple that with detailed instructions on exactly how to give great oral sex to a woman, how to shave the pubic area, and how to have safe yet fun oral sex, and you're on your way to an educational yet fun ride. Did I mention there are drawings? The black and white, pen and ink, drawings are erotic and alluring, and strewn in here and there. Perfect.

The book is geared more toward the lesbian couple that is really just starting out in sex or who have had problems with stereotypes of the female body. The book works equally well for heterosexual couples as well, however I had a hard time getting my man to read it. He still thinks he knows everything about oral sex.

I really enjoyed this book. I read a chapter at bed time and was normally turned on by it. The erotica often became my fantasy later on. When I was with my man I was finally able to just let go and stop worrying. For that, the book is priceless. He also tried some of the techniques and they were heaven. Way better than normal.
