Use

Principessa's bath and beauty line is perfect for those days when you want to be pampered...and feel like a princess, of course. The Amore Afterglow Salt Buff is no exception. This product is gentle enough for weekly exfoliation to sluff off dead skin and expose the glowing skin stuck underneath or to be used whenever you want added softness. This product would be fun to incorporate in a sensual bathtime routine with a partner or alone, when you are wanting to relax.

Afterglow can be used on any body parts, although I would caution using it on more sensitive areas. (Who exfoliates down there anywways?) I have sensitive skin, and I had no adverse reaction to this product, but always use caution. The extracts and fragrances are extensive so be sure to check the ingredients thoroughly if you have allergies. If you have fragrance-related allergies, you may want to choose another product.

*This product is not intended for use after shaving or if your skin is irritated.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

This is a thick, salt-based scrub. It doesn't have the salt-sitting-in-oil feel that some body scrubs do. Rather, it is a thick mixture that sticks together nicely. It works best when scooped out with your fingers and applying directly to your skin. The scrub stays in place nicely and the mixture sticks together nicely during application.

This scrub does not leave you feeling sticky or greasy. After application, it is best to rinse your body thoroughly, making sure all traces of salt are rinsed away. It does leave your skin feeling soft from exfoliation as well as from the oils in the mixture.

Taste / Aroma

The Amore Afterglow smells absolutely amazing! The scent reminds me of a tropical getaway in the sun. It smells very much like a high-end sunscreen - in a good way.

This scrub is stronger smelling (obviously) while concentrated in the tub. The scent is more rounded out and light during application and after rinsing off it leaves a very subtle scent behind which lasts for only about an hour, two hours tops.

The scent is hard to place, but the shea butter scent definitely overpowers the fragrances in this formulation.

Obviously, this scrub is not intended for internal use.

Performance

The formulation for this scrub is what makes it so amazing. The blend of Epsom salt, sea salt, and shea butter creates a thick scrub that isn't as messy as most other products. It stays in place nicely versus ending up all over your tub. Most importantly, it does what it is intended to do: soften your skin while sloughing off unwanted dead skin.

Before use it is important to stir the contents of the tub. I used my fingers. You could use a small spoon or popsicle stick. Once its stirred into an even thickness, it is ready to be applied to the areas of your body that need exfoliation. I use my fingers for application, as this is what works best. You could use a loofah or bath mitt for application, but like with most scrubs, all the nice salts get lost in the loofah.

Once applied, the scrub sticks together wonderfully and lasts longer due to that. I found I didn't have to use much scrub to exfoliate nearly every inch of my body since I could use a small two-finger amount for each arm/leg/area.

If you are planning on shaving, do so after you scrub up. Also, this product should be rinsed off well. You don't want any salt left behind!

Packaging

The Principessa beauty products are all wonderfully packaged in cute black and baby-pink. This 14.5 ounce tub is made of black plastic with a waterproof baby pink label on the front that has the Principessa logo and reads "amore afterglow smoothing salt buff".

The back label is black with baby-pink writing. It describes the products intended use and benefits. It has only one precaution: do not use on irritated skin or after shaving. Below that is the same content in French. Followed by the ingredients.

This product is discreet, as it is a beauty product. It would make a really nice gift!

It is shipped sealed. This tub is recycable.
    • Discreet looking packaging
    • Easy to use / dispense
    • Would make a nice gift

You can always go to the manufacturer website to get a scent description. Great job otherwise!

O, boo! I hate when things purchased make me work to use them!! I know, stirring it isn't THAT big of deal, but it takes time I'd rather not spend on something this pricey. Good review, ty!
