A Short Test Drive

At a glance this was a lube for me. With minimal ingredients I wanted to give it a try. But after it irritated my skin I researched the ingredients and found them to sound unfavorable. Though this may be more favorable than the alternatives.

Luv Lube appealed to me primarily because of its short ingredient list which in the lube world is alot less common than I would hope. And the ingredients are relatively natural, or about as natural as you can hope for. So I was eager to give it a try. However, my experience with the product is rather limited because I found it to cause mild irritation when using it anally, fairly rapidly after applying it. It didn't cause overt pain, but was uncomfortable enough to kill the mood. So I'll do my best to review my limited experience.

Its relatively odorless, smelling like other naturalish water based lubes. Similarly, it is relatively tasteless, though not entirely. It taste somewhat aloe vera. Not bad, but not pleasant in my opinion. Its consistency is light enough to be used through the sprayer, so quite a lot was required for penetration. I didn't prolong the experience so I don't know how it would do with lengthy or rougher play. Clean up was easy enough, or what I consider easy, like most water based lubes ( as opposed to oil).

Everything in moderation.. But in response to the irritation I experienced I looked up the remaining two ingredients after water to see what they were. Propanediol is said to sometimes cause skin irritation and chronic exposure can lead to hypoglycemia and seizures (toxipedia.org). So that very well could have been the culprit. The other ingredient, Carrageenan, sounded at first to be an interesting and a potentially healthy emulsifier derived from red seaweed. It is a thickening agent used in all sorts of things, from ice cream and soy milk to sex lube. However, as I read on I was disturbed to learn one Carrageenan researcher declared, "all forms of carrageenan are capable of causing inflammation. This is bad news. We know that chronic inflammation is a root cause of many serious diseases including heart disease, Alzheimer'sand Parkinson's diseases, and cancer. (https://www.drweil.com/drw/u/QAA401181/Is-Carrageenan-Safe.html)"

Overall this lube seemed like it could easily please some people even though it didn't work for me. And though some of its ingredients sound a bit ominous, I'm guessing they are on the lesser-of-evils side of the lube spectrum.
