Use

Encounter Ultimate is an anal lube that boasts being pH balanced just for women on its packaging. A lot of people swear by silicone based lube for anal play, and I did too, until now. Encounter Ultimate feels more like silicone lube, which is my favorite, than any other water based lube I have ever used. Not only is this lube great for anal, but it's great for everything else you would like to use silicone based lube for and can't (like silicone toys)!

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

When you squirt it out of the pump-bottle, it is the consistancy of hair gel. In a big glob, it does tend to run off of your finger.

I squirted it, tilted my finger to the side, counted to 3, and took this pic:

However, if you rub it in a little, and it doesn't have the weight of the big glob behind it, it doesn't go anywhere.

It feels similar to hair gel in your hand as well. However, unlike hair gel, when you start rubbing it in, it doesn't get sticky. It just rubs in like aloe gel that you buy for sunburn, and doesn't leave any sort of residue or stickiness. I couldn't ask for a better lube.

In motion, it stays nice and slick, and we didn't have to reapply it at all in the course of 30 minutes.

Taste / Aroma

There is no taste or smell, despite the fact that the packaging claims that there is mint extract infused in the lube.

Performance

The ingredients are as follows: (INCI) Water (aqua), propylene gylcol, hydroxyethylcellulose, butylene glycol, carbomer, cymbopogon, schoenanthus extract, eugenia, eugenia caryophyllus (clove) flower extract, lycium barbarum fuit extract, melissa officinalis extract, panax ginseng root extract, PEG-45M, tetrasodium EDTA, tocopheryl acetate, triethanolamine, DMDM Hydantoin, sodium benzoate

After my horrid experience with the tightening gel I reviewed, the first thing I did when I got this was check out the ingredients. I saw nothing in the ingredients that led me to believe I would end up sitting in toilet water to make my crotch stop burning again, so I was relieved. Then I turned the bottle to the side, and there was a little icon indicating that it had mint extract infused. I groaned.

When it was time to try it out, I proceeded with caution. Can you tell I'm scarred by bad lubes? Much to my surprise, I don't think I felt ANY effect of the mint extract at all. There was no cooling or tingling, and best of all, no burning or screaming.

The lube lasted the whole session, and there was no greasy/oily mess to clean up afterwards.

Packaging

The bottle is 2 oz. The picture makes it look a little bigger than it is, so if you look at the picture at the top of this review, where the bottle is in my hand, you will get an idea of how big it actually is. The only way I can describe this packaging is that it is kind of like a 5 hour energy drink, where you have to find the dotted lines on the top of the lid, and peel that part down and then take the wrapper off of the lid. When I peeled the top part down, it acted like it wanted to go down to the bottom of the bottle, thus taking off the whole wrapper:

That made it so that I could not fully read the instructions.

After you get the plastic off, you have to pull off the clear top cap in order to squirt it. This is nice because it means that it won't accidentally squirt all over something, but it is rather hard to get off if you have lubed up hands.

After putting the packaging back together, the instructions read:
Ultimate ENCOUNTER lubricant is specifically formulated thick and slick for anal pleasure. Application: Apply as needed to areas you wish to lubricate. If irritation occurs discontinue use. Latex friendly. For topical use only.

Wait... what? Topical use only? Doesn't that mean that you aren't supposed to use it inside your body? That is a little inconsistant with the purpose of the product, I think. So, that makes things a little confusing. But, as I said, I didn't have any negative side affects.

Personal comments

I would have given this 5 stars, but that little bit on the packaging about it being for topical use only really made me uncomfortable. I'll probably continue to use it as long as I don't have any negative side effects, but it just gives it kind of a negative vibe, and makes me wonder if there is something in it that isn't safe.
Follow-up commentary
Although this is listed as an anal lube, it has become my new favorite overall lube, second only to Swiss Navy. We started using it quite frequently when we ran out of Swiss Navy, and didn't have the chance to get any more. I'm VERY picky about my lubes, so that says a lot!

I find it funny that it is an anal lube yet pH balanced for women. I didn't realize that women had a different pH in their ass compared to men.
    Thanks for the review!

Good anal lubes are hard to find. Great review.

I would try it just for the bottle. It has a cap and a pump. I like that you could completely remove the label! Then it would be completely discrete. Oh and nice review! Thanks!

I'm wary of lubes too. Thanks for this review, I may pick this up when it becomes available.
