JO coconut hybrid lube - oil-based lubricant by System JO - review by omgmegg

I grabbed this lube to try out something new, and I loved the idea of a hybrid lube that was water-based but with added coconut oil. I primarily use silicone toys and have almost all water-based lubes so I don’t accidentally grab the wrong lube in the heat of the moment and risk damage to my toys. One thing that I haven’t always loved, though, about water-based lubes is that they don’t have that super slippery feel to them that a silicone lube has.

When it arrived, I cracked it open and slid a little between my fingers to test it out. The first thing I noticed was that this lube wasn’t sticky or too thick, and it had a very natural feel. I didn’t notice much of scent, but I wasn’t disappointed by this - I wasn’t looking for a lube that smelled like a suntan lotion. Also notable, this isn’t a flavored lubricant, but I did do a quick taste test to find that there is minimal flavor - luckily, I wasn’t expecting any.

I decided it was best to try this one out for both solo play and with a partner, I’ve tried lubes in the past that were comfortable with one or the other but not always both. Truthfully, there wasn’t anything I disliked about the lubricant, and I will continue to buy and use it as long as it is available. The only real downside would be if you planned to use this with a partner as it is not condom safe as it is an oil-based lubricant.

Let’s talk about solo play, I tried this lube initially with 2 different toys - a dual-action rabbit style vibrator and with a toy that uses air suction. For the air suction toy, I applied a little directly around my clit and around the tip of the toy to ensure there was enough lubricant to get good suction. I honestly didn’t notice much difference between using my normal water-based lube and the JO Coconut Hybrid Lube, other than everything was slightly sticky after the fact. This lubricant was a real winner, though when used with an insertable toy, the not too thick feel felt very natural and allowed the toy to glide in and out with ease. I also really liked that I didn’t need to re-wet the lube or apply more, especially since I had only used a pea-sized amount.

Next up, partner play. I tried this lube for both vaginal and anal sex, and let me tell you, this just might be my preferred lube for both. For vaginal sex, it was hard to tell the difference between my natural wetness and the lubricant, and for anal sex, this lube provided a very comfortable experience. For anal, I’ve really struggled to find something that felt “right,” but I think the slightly thicker consistency of this lube is what really provided for an enjoyable experience. Like with the toys, a little bit went a long way, and I didn’t need to re-wet or reapply.
