JO H2O cool anal lubricant - lubricant discontinued by System JO - review by ViVix

First and foremost, let me say that I cheated on my lube with JO's cool anal lubricant. I have been using the Sliquid sassy booty formula for quite some time, and upon realizing I had less than half an ounce left in my bottle, I decided to order new lube. All signs pointed to JO's cool anal lubricant as a worthy replacement. Well, it is and it isn't.

Packaging
I bought the 4.5 ounce bottle, though a smaller bottle is offered for the more hesitant. The bottle is actually somewhat simple yet very appealing. Cobalt blue and gold are the main text colors over a clear plastic bottle. The lid is a simple push on one side/the other side flips up. My only issue with this kind of lid is that I often squeeze too much from the bottle, and the newer pump style could easily fix this problem. The bottle came in a clear plastic bag with a knot at the top to prevent leaking, though there is also a safety seal that must originally be removed.

The bottle is not discreet. The only red word on the entire bottle is "ANAL." Another reviewer offered the suggestion of possibly taking the label off, but it's pretty obvious that this is a bottle of lubricant even if you manage to scrape the label off. Plus, the label holds the expiration date (mine doesn't expire for 2 years), along with some other important information.

I can't say that I have an issue with parabens, but I know many who avoid them as they are being studied as possible cancer-causers. That being said, what is really interesting is the lack of certain ingredients in this lube. There is no oil, wax, or silicone to this anal lubricant.

Smell, Taste, Touch
This lube smells like menthol. It's a very easily identified smell, and it is slightly overpowering. The taste is just horrible though! I barely touched my finger to the lube and placed it into my mouth, but I looked like I had a mouth full of Warheads. I'm not exactly sure what I'm tasting...just kind of a sour taste. Lastly, when placed on the back of my hand, this lube doesn't run. It's originally very slick, but contradictory to statements on this product, it gets tacky on the skin as it doesn't absorb at all. It's kind of like getting Elmer's glue on your fingers, and then trying to roll it off if this lube is left on for too long. Luckily, it washes off with just a little bit of water. I also notice that I have to reapply this lubricant more often than some others.

Now For Those Cooling/Tingling Claims
I read a review from a male on this product that felt relatively little of the cooling and tingling, but this was not the case for me. It may just be that women react more strongly toward cooling products, but motion definitely activated this lubricant to become very cold for me. The tingling was quite evident as well. However, these sensations were noticeable only anally and vaginally; the sensations just didn't translate well to my nipples.

I love ice play and anything of the sort, and I recently read a review from an individual who freezes their lubricant into cubes. Well, this lube doesn't freeze, but I have become accustomed to storing it in the freezer anyway. It's the intense cold before any friction even takes place that makes this particularly pleasing. If I'm not in the mood, I sometimes do this and apply a small amount. Then, I just work online for a bit before realizing that I am suddenly in the mood after all. If you're worried about the ingredients breaking down/separating/not retaining the same thickness after repeated freezer placement, you can always just put a small amount in a plastic cup in the freezer as well.

I am sure that some individuals will find this lubricant to be a pleaser, but after using it several times, I have lost interest. The cooling property is good every once in a great while, but I like my bottle of lube to work for every situation. Unfortunately, the extra stimulation can be too extreme at times and actually make anal MORE uncomfortable for my partner and I. I also just love the Sliquid Sassy Booty formula too much...it's a hard act to follow for this lubricant.
