Lubricant discontinued

Slip, slide, and away we go!

Luz de la Riva's Simone Extra Slick Water Base Lube is definitely a very slick lubricant that works well vaginally, anally, and externally. While it is a bit expensive, the glass bottle it comes in is lovely and it has quickly become my go-to lube for all types of play.

Use

Simone Extra Slick Water Base Lube from Luz de la Riva is, as the name implies, a very slick water-based lubricant. Free of glycerin and parabens, Simone Extra Slick is perfect for those with sensitivities to those ingredients, or who just prefer not to use products containing them. Use it vaginally, anally, or externally; Simone's slipperiness allows it to be used anywhere and everywhere you need it.

Ingredients listed for Simone Extra Slick are:
Purified Water, PEG 600, Polypropylene Glycol Alginate, Polyethylene Oxide, Propendiol, Flavor.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

Simone is a moderately thick lubricant: while not as thick as Maximus, it wasn't overly runny and I found it to be similar in consistency to System JO H2O Anal lube. After being pumped into your hand, it will run down skin until applied or rubbed into where it is desired. It is very slick and smooth with no grains, granules or textures of any kind.

Taste / Aroma

There is no noticeable smell to Simone, even when directly sniffing skin it was rubbed into. The bottle does list "Flavor" as an ingredient, though I'm not sure what flavor it is supposed to be. When licked, it has a mild artificially sweet bitter taste, so I really wouldn't recommend this for oral. However, after licking it, there was no aftertaste, so that's a plus.

Performance

This product worked well as a lubricant wherever I applied it. It stayed slick much longer than other lubes I have used, and it didn't gunk or gum up. It didn't leave my skin sticky or dried out, and there was no flaking or peeling after it had dried. Because this is a water-based lube, it won't work well when used in the shower because it will just wash away. After play, using a wet washcloth or a wipe will clean the lube up with no problems. When I had it on my hands (from comparing it to other lubes), simply rinsing my hands off with water cleaned the lube up without even using soap.

Also, as mentioned above, this lube has a slight bitter, artificial sweetener taste, so I wouldn't recommend it for oral. It also doesn't provide any additional sensations (like warming or cooling), it is simply a lubricant.
    • Absorbs into skin nicely
    • Feels natural

Packaging

Simone comes in a glass bottle that holds 3.58 fluid ounces of product. The lubricant is dispensed from a simple pump at the top, which is covered by a plastic cap that helps prevent it from leaking or from being accidentally dispensed. The front label on the bottle has a drawing of a nude women (no naughty bits are exposed). The back label lists the product's name in English and three other languages, Luz de la Riva's website address, and the ingredient list.

The box the bottle comes in has the same female drawing on the front with the product name. One of the sides states that the product is "Paraben Free, Latex Safe, Shake well before use", as well as "No animal ingredients or testing", and a warning to keep the product out of your eyes. On the back, the product name is listed again with a brief paragraph about the product in English and three other languages. Because the bottle is glass, inside the outer box, the bottle sits inside a cardboard "tray" that comes up to the top of the bottle with a hole cut out for the lid. Another piece of cardboard is folded around the bottle to keep it from moving around in the box.

The box isn't very discreet: it does say what the product is on the front, though the font isn't huge and obnoxious. As for the bottle, I honestly find it to be discreet. While there is a nude female drawing on the front (again, naughty bits are covered by hair or hands), you won't know what the bottle contains unless you actually pick it up and read the back label. The bottle could easily sit on top of a dresser or vanity and blend in with other products; the bottle could be passed off as some feminine product - body lotion, facial serum, hair styling, etc.

Experience

Even though I own several bottles, I'm not really a lube user. Obviously I use if for anal play, but that doesn't happen too often. I also use it during play with my Eroscillator, but again, that doesn't get used all that often. I produce quite a bit of my own lubricant vaginally, so no lube needed there unless I'm using a silicone toy with tons of drag. However, with the other lubes that I own, I don't have a favorite, nor only one that I'd use vaginally, anally and externally (or even one that works well at all in any of those areas). But after giving Simone Extra Slick a try, I think I've found a lube that works well in all areas.

As the name says, it is extra slick! It doesn't feel silicone-like, like my preferred System JO H2O Anal, but it stays slick much longer. As an experiment to see which lube lasted the longest, I took one or two drops of each lube I own into my hands and rubbed them together very quickly to see which ones lasted the longest/stayed slick. Obviously I washed my hands between each individual lube testing. The other lubes I compared Simone to are Sliquid H2O, System JO H2O Anal and Maximus. Sliquid H2O didn't last that long. Maximus took a little bit longer than the Sliquid before it was gone, both dried completely and left no slickness on my skin. System JO H2O Anal lasted about as long as Maximus did, but it didn't dry completely and left some slickness on my fingers (this is why it is my preferred lube anally and with the Eroscillator). Now enter Simone - after rubbing it very rapidly on my hands/fingers, it did dry up somewhat (about after the same amount of time as Maximus and System JO), but my hands were still very slick. Much slicker than System JO had left them. A total win in my book!

Even though Simone isn't as thick as Maximus and doesn't feel silicone-like like System JO, it has definitely become my preferred lube. It's the only one that stays quite slick and doesn't make me reapply it as often. Sadly it is rather expensive for 3.58 fluid ounces of lube, even though it does come in that pretty glass bottle. Which might be a problem for some people - slippery lube + glass = dropped bottle. For me, that's not a problem because whenever I use lube, I always have a cloth or wipe to clean it off my hands. But slipping a few rubber bands around the bottle should help as well.

All in all, I would recommend this lube to others. Even though it is a bit expensive, I gladly give it five stars.
Follow-up commentary
This is still a nice, slick lubricant. However I don't use it a whole lot because it's very runny and I prefer thicker lubes.
