What is it?:

The Wild Wild West set by DreamGirl is a four piece costume that includes the black cowgirl dress which features sequins and fringe, a black belt with silver metal accents decorated with rhinestones, a plain black scarf and black hat with sequins and a black ribbon hatband.

This costume is only available in one color scheme; black with silver accents. It is, however, offered in four different sizes; small, medium, large and extra large.

This costume is mainly an at-home type of outfit because of the shortness but if you have an adults-only Halloween party, you could wear this to it because this costume actually covers all private areas and is not see through at all.



Material: 100% Polyester, exclusive of decoration

Polyester is a material that has low absorbency so beware sweating in it. Also polyester is combustible but due to its thermoplastic nature, it tends to shrink away from the flame source and often self-extinguishes. Basically be cautious wearing this around open flames and you should be fine.

This costume came with a strong chemical smell, mainly due to the hat it seems, but since everything was bagged all together the other items in the set picked up the stench too. Hopefully some airing out and/or washing of the items will help with this.

The dress feels slightly fuzzy on the outside like cheap faux suede but the scarf feels like your typical stiff polyester cloth. The hat is some kind of stiff, yet semi-flexible felt-like foam and it arrived somewhat crushed but it is not too difficult to reshape. The belt is your standard black faux leather belt with silver and rhinestone accents and it feels cool and smooth to the touch.

Design: All measurements taken with the items laid flat

The Dress~ From the top of the shoulder strap to the bottom hem measures almost 31" long. From one armpit across to the other armpit, this measures 15" and will only stretch 3 1/2". Across the bottom of the dress measures about 18 1/2" and it will stretch 3 1/2" more. Each "cup" from the edge of the armpit in towards the center measures about 6 1/2" and the horseshoe with rhinestones on each strap is just about 2" wide. The fringe hanging down from under each horseshoe and from the bottom hem measures about 2" long. The back of the dress from the top of each shoulder strap down to the bottom hem is about 31 1/2" long. There are two little loops on each side of the dress at the waist which measure about 1 1/2" by 1". All the sequin trim is sewn on and each individual sequin is about 1/4" wide. The horseshoes are a silver material sewn on to the dress with a few rhinestones sewn over them. There are three tags sewn into the dress at the top back seam that give you the size, style number, material and the DreamGirl logo. One also states that this dress is dry clean only. There are no clasps or closures on this because it is a pull over style dress and there are no loose threads sticking out anywhere.



The Scarf: The black scarf is 31" wide and 14" tall from the middle point up to the straight edge. It only has a small white tag sewn onto one corner that lists the style number and size. The only other thing to mention about this scarf is that there is a sewn seam all around it and there weren't any loose threads or stitching errors.

The Belt: Measured from the end of the belt buckle all the way to the other end this belt is 38" long with holes placed at the 21", 22 1/2", 24", 25 1/2", 27", 28 1/2", 30" and 32 1/2" marks. The belt is almost 1 1/2" thick making it a little difficult to use the belt loops provided on the dress. There is a metal horseshoe accent with rhinestones on the back, center of the belt that measures just 1 1/2" tall and 1 1/4" wide. The belt buckle is a silver metal buckle with western designs imprinted on it and some rhinestones set into it. It measures almost 3 1/2" from the curved end to the end where it attaches to the belt and just under 3" wide from side to side. The metal loop near the buckle is made to match the buckle in that it is silver metal with western designs and rhinestones on it. It measures 1 3/4" wide by just over 1/2" thick.

The Hat: The hat from front to back (only measuring the brim) is about 13 1/2" long. Around the hat they have sewn two strips of sequins to a black ribbon band that is finished in a neat bow. The inside of the hat from front to back measures about 8" and from side to side is about 7". The hat does not stretch so it may not fit everyone. On each side of the brim is a large grommet for the hat strings to pass through. They meet each other and are fastened together via a black plastic, push-button sliding adjuster. The hat strings were not knotted on the ends after passing through the adjuster but they are easily knotted manually. The cord they used for the hat strings is quite low quality; there are many pulled out single strand loops and it just looks terrible.

The dress fit me great with the exception of the bust area being just a little too small, width wise, to cover the girls properly. The length is perfect for my 5'1" stature because it just covers my bum but is short enough to still be sexy. The only downside to the dress is that it leaves little black fuzzies all over, but especially on any undergarments you wear under it. The scarf fit fine and was easy to tie on with some of room to spare. For those that are wondering my neck measures, snugly, at 13 1/2" around. The belt fit okay around my 28" waist and there were plenty of holes to accommodate larger sizes. The hat was the only truly disappointing aspect of the entire set. It was too small for my head, shoddily made in that it looked very thrown together and it arrived very squished.

Storing, Care & Packaging:

To store this costume either hang it up in a closet on some hangers or keep it in the original costume bag and hang that up.

The set is technically dry clean only but I think you could get away with very gently handwashing the dress in cold water and letting it drip dry or lying flat to dry.

This costume set came packaged in a big plastic costume bag with a black plastic hanger in the top of it. There were two inserts; one the dress was on and the other shows a photo of a model wearing the costume and some details about it on the front. The inserts and the bag did have dye from the costume bled onto them.

This is still a decent quality costume other than the fuzzies and bleeding dye. I haven't worn it at all since reviewing it so it's still in great shape.
