Fishnet Disaster

This mini-dress from Leg Avenue did not impress me. I rarely have problems with one size pieces, but this one was all sorts of off. It may work for a smaller set of measurements; make sure you check my revisions because if you follow the sizing given, you may be left disappointed. The scratchy material made me not want to even give it to someone else.

extremely useful review
I love fishnet and fencenet and have quite a few mini-dress ones among other pieces. When I saw this and at such an inexpensive price I decided to ignore the somewhat gaudy metal rings it had and give it a try. I really wish I hadn't.

*Contents/overview:

This piece of lingerie is a industrial net halter mini dress with an open back and adjustable bust. The thong and thigh highs you see in the pictures are not included in this.

*Material:

This corset has a mesh fencenet made of 85% Nylon and 15% spandex. There are also metal rings, but no indication as to what kind of metal. If you are allergic to nickle, you may want to heed warning. The fencenet is thick and pretty stretchy. It has a thicker nylon and spandex lining that doesn't stretch as well.

*Design/craftsmanship:

Well, I wasn't impressed. The fencenet looks ratty and worn in. I prefer clean cut fishnet or fencenet lines. It looks like it was fairly easy to rip as well. The closure for the bust was made of a strong bra style closure. This was made very well and I didn't feel it would break on me.

The front has the two triangle shaped cups like on a bikini which are attached to the halter with the metal rings. The halter strap was made of the same materials and not very comfortable on my neck. In between the cups is another connecting metal ring that attaches to the main body of the mini-dress. From the front this also looks like a triangle. In the back a single band runs across the bum, kind of like an extreme mini skirt. The rest of the back is open with the exception of the bra type closure.

Overall, I was kind of weary of the construction and how well it would hold up to washing.

*Cleaning/care/storage:

This dress must be hand washed and drip dried. Do not use anything abrasive on the netting. To store, it can fit back into the slim box it comes in or just thrown in a pillow case and stuck in a drawer. I recommend the pillow case or other fabric pouch to prevent the fishnet from snagging on something and ripping.
Experience
*Sizing:

This dress was ridiculous. I'm 5'6" and it was WAY too short. I mean I know it comes to right below the butt of the model, but I had to keep pulling it down to keep it there. The material is too stretchy, it was fighting me.

This comes in one size fits most. The box doesn't say what weight range this is. There are actual measurements for the one-size. It says that it will fit a dress size of 6-11, bust size of A-C, band size 32-38", waist of 23-29", and hips of 34-40". I beg to differ...

This runs really small for a one size. I have rarely had a problem with one-size lingerie. But this one was all sorts of off. Pretty much the only thing that fit right was the bust, which is funny because I am a 34 D or 36 C which is on the high end of the range or out of it. It was tight enough that the bust supported them just fine. The halter part was not long enough though and hurt my neck.

The band did not fit though. Like I said I range from 34"-36" and this says it fits up to 38". It so does not! This was the worse fitting part and way too small. I felt restricted and very uncomfortable as the thicker nylon band cut into my ribs.

The lower body part of the dress wasn't much better. The part that goes over my butt was pretty small and didn't sit right across my hips. It also was way too short. I barely had any cut outs on the sides of my waist. I felt pretty stupid in this. I'm sure my boyfriend would have loved it; but frankly I didn't feel sexy, I felt cheap like the piece I was wearing. Not cool. Needless to say, I returned this without ever showing him.

I feel that the sizing chart for this isn’t accurate. I re-did it as best I could for the one-size:

Dress size 4-8
B-D Cup
30-34 Bust (for 34 you would need smaller boobs)
23-29 Waist (doesn't really matter because of the cut outs)
32-38 Hip

I also don't think this will work well if you are my height or taller. I think you would have to be 5'4" or shorter. I've never had to recommend a height limit for a piece of lingerie.

*Conclusion: I'm giving this 2 stars because it may work for others, but the sizing is way off. Also it won't fit taller women nicely even if they are in the sizing range. The material was scratchy and uncomfortable. It didn't seem that well made and looked like it would rip easily. I would invest in something else.
Follow-up commentary
I've come to terms with the fact that no matter how in shape I am, this is just never going to fit my body type. It also won't change the fact that the length is off and the material is scratchy. I ended up selling it to a friend of a friend for a few bucks. Next time, I'll know better when shopping for similar styles, especially with the same company.
