Bra and skirt set - bra, gartered skirt and stockings set discontinued by DreamGirl - review by Rockin'

When I first found this four-piece set, I liked it even though it looked more casual than other fancier frillier outfits. It struck me as more of a “girl next door” look, if said girl next door walked around in a cute garter belt skirt set. After carefully removing the set from the pink tissue paper wrapping (a nice touch), the outfit looked much more sophisticated in person.

In the featured pictures of the outfit, the fabric looks duller, somewhat more like flannel. In real life the material is much more vibrant, like other microfiber outfits. The fabric of both the skirt and bra are stretchy, but I found the bra fabric to be somewhat irritating initially. With subsequent use I’ve felt the same initial mild irritation, but the feeling fades fairly quickly. The skirt didn’t cause any irritation, but my lower parts might not be as sensitive as my breasts.

The bra is designed like a string bikini top, with two triangles of fabric and stretchy ties that stay put when knotted or tied in a bow. The ties allow for versatility if you want to try a racer-back bra design. The “cups” of the bra can’t slide along the bottom tie, which may be problematic if one’s breasts don’t line up with the cups just so.

The skirt allows for easy rear-entry positions. When I bend over in the outfit, the elastic garters pull taut, creating a nice stretched look from behind. Front-entry positions should work, too, but I felt like those positions took away some of the appeal of the set. When my partner took me from behind, even with my panties around my thighs, I didn’t feel constrained by the skirt and could spread my legs a bit to adjust for comfort.

Overall, I’m pleased with the garters. Attaching the back garters was a little tricky. I recommend leaving some slack in those garters to allow for easier attachment to the stocking top, and then tightening to the desired length afterward. Otherwise, you’re fighting the garter elastic the whole time. If you enjoy watching as your partner is frustrated, ask if you can watch while s/he attaches the garters.

And now we’ve come to the low points of the set. The thong matches the skirt and bra, and that’s about all the praise it gets. While it was more comfortable than I imagined, I didn’t want to wear it all day. On the inner back portion of the thong, there was extra elastic from the waist band that hadn’t been trimmed during manufacturing, which made the article look haphazard and unappealing.

The stockings had fairly thick tops for attaching the garters, and I wish the whole stocking were that thick! The rest is sadly quite thin, and delicate, and not in a way I found sexy. Despite filing my nails and easing the stockings onto my legs, numerous small horizontal black lines appeared on the stockings as my fingers/nails caught on the fabric. The overall look of the outfit wasn’t compromised; the stockings simply are not of high quality.

Both the bra and skirt have thick tags sewn into them that caused me moderate discomfort. I cut off as much of the tags as I could, and the one in the skirt still irritated my hip. Especially with intimate wear, I really appreciate tag-less designs.

Those troublesome tags recommend hand washing the set in cold water, and then line drying it. I liked that the skirt has built-in loops on either side for easy hanging for both drying and storage.

Wearing some nice black high heels, I enjoyed strutting around my bedroom in this lingerie set. It made me feel sexy and powerful, and I loved the way the skirt hugged my curves. My partner especially enjoyed the garters, which can be pulled back and snapped against the wearer’s skin for heightened enjoyment, if you’re into that sort of thing.

The set likely won’t last forever, but I’ll certainly get several more fun uses out of it. Aside from the stockings, the other pieces seem pretty durable for microfiber. For the price, you get a set that’s fun to wear, and can be mixed with other lingerie articles. The overall quality isn’t high, but its style and ease of use earn this set three stars out of five.
