Sheer thigh hi with ruffle edge, satin bow, and pearls - thigh highs discontinued by Fantasy Lingerie - review by Breas

The Sheer Thigh Highs by Fantasy Lingerie are available in one-size-fits-most only. I wear an XL in clothing but I usually fit fine in the OSFM stockings because they stretch to fit. The accents to the stockings were so pretty that I just had to have them.

The thigh highs arrived in a very thin, cardboard package. The front of the package states the product name, size, and has a photo of a model wearing the stockings. The back of the package has the same information and photo as the front and also states the material composition, care instructions, size chart, company contact information, and website. The packaging is not ideal for storing the stockings. I just keep stockings in my sock drawer. The packaging can be recycled.



Inside of the cardboard package, the thigh highs are wrapped around a thin piece of cardboard and protected by plastic. The stockings are 100% nylon and are stretchy. The nylon is sheer and the toe areas are reinforced. The top of each stocking has lace ruffle trim, a bow made of ribbon, and 2 strands of pearl beads.

Top of thigh high unstretched: 4 ¼ inches
Top of thigh high stretched as much as I could: 13 inches
Length unstretched: 23 ½ inches
Length stretched as much as I could: well over 60 inches

There is no design or pattern on the stockings. The nylon is extra thin so you’ll want to be extra careful when putting them on/removing them. The band at the top of the stocking is a bit thicker as it is a double layer of material. The lace trim at the top of the stockings goes all the way around the thigh. The trim is white in colour and measures 1 ¾ inches in length. Each stocking has a huge, white bow at the top. The bow is just less than 4 ½ inches wide and approximately 4 inches in length.



The two little strands of pearl beads begin behind the centre of the bow. Each strand is approximately 5 ¼ inches in length. These beads are also white in colour. These accents are not detachable but you could easily remove them permanently if you wanted to. I purchased the stockings because I really liked the accents so I don’t want to remove them… though they have already started to remove themselves.

The lace trim to the stocking is sewn on and seems to be secure. The bow and pearl strands are not. When I went to measure the length of the strands of pearls, I moved the side of the bow over and it came off a bit. I looked closer and realized that both pearls and bow are glue gunned onto the stocking! This made me a bit angry because now I’m going to have to sew them to the stocking so they’re secure and won’t fall off.



I mentioned in the beginning of the review that I am an XL. I’ve got fairly thick legs and thighs but usually buy the OSFM stockings because they usually fit me. Most of the brands suggest a weight bracket of up to 160lbs for their OSFM stockings (sometimes more). I am in the high 160’s and usually don’t have any problems.

I was pretty shocked when I seen the size chart on the packaging. The suggested weight bracket for these OSFM stockings is 90-140lbs! So I’m much higher than the highest number suggested. The suggested height bracket is 5’-5’9”. I’m 5’6” in height so the length should work for me.

So when I tried the stockings on, the length worked well. I was able to pull them fairly high up my leg. The problem for me was how tight the band was around my thick thighs. At about 18 inches in circumference, the muffin top started. At a 21 inch circumference, it just hurt. So what this means is that if your thigh is 18 inches in circumference or lower you’ll fit nicely into the stockings.



In the photo above, you can see that I pulled one thigh high up my thigh and kept one below my knee. The higher thigh high actually is uncomfortable where it’s sitting in that photo but I did that to show the length. When I wore the stockings, I found the top of the thigh highs rolled down causing the stockings to fall down my legs. There is no silicone grip in the stockings to hold them up. You could attach the stockings to garters to avoid this problem.

Other then the tightness of the band, the stockings are quite comfortable. The packaging states that the stockings should be hand washed separately in cold water and drip dried. Only non-chlorinated bleach should be used when needed.

I’ve given the stockings a 2 out of 5 for a number of reasons… they roll, fall down the leg, and the accents are glue gunned onto the stocking. They’re really pretty but it would have been nice if they had silicone grips inside of them to hold them up. Also, you’ll want to sew the accents onto the stockings if you want them to stay there.
