Reversible satin corset with ruffle accents - corset discontinued by DreamGirl - review by VelvetBound

Lately I've really been itching to get a good black colored corset. I really did not own any decent corsets, and heck, I'll just admit it, I am always up for adding quality lingerie to my collection. What girl isn't? So, when I layed my eyes on this DreamGirl corset, which just happened to be black AND pink, well I was just overwhelmed. Yes, I do tend to get a little too excited over lingerie. It's nothing new.

This reversible satin corset, complete with ruffle accents, is just as beautiful in the pictures as it is in person. Shocker I know, but truly it is! The satin material is silky smooth and the black dotted ruffles are just darling. The plastic boning detail in the corset is bendable, while still maintaining stability. This is lingerie, and in my opinion you should be able to move freely and not feel too restricted. This corset allows just that.

The detachable garters hook on at the cute little bows that adorn the bottom of the corset. Unfortunately there aren't any pictures of the back, but I can tell you that it is made up of a soft and stretchy mesh material with hook and eye closures. I sometimes try to avoid hook and eye because of the fact that they tend to come undone easier than lace-ups. Thankfully, I was able to move around without them once coming undone. This goes for both the pink and black side.

Putting on the corset can be a little tricky. I suggest asking for help or either attaching both sides while you have the corset turned around towards the front, and then turning it back around correctly. Much like many of us do with our bras. This method was pretty easy for me since the corset happened to be a bit loose on me. I usually wear a 34B, so it made since for me to try out a size 34. I would have probably been better off getting a 32, so I would suggest getting a size smaller if you are looking for a better fit.

The looseness made the corset look a little odd on me. It didn't hug my curves, nor did it lift my breasts. It simply layed flat and straight down my sides. I was boobless and it was hiding all my womenly curves that I would have loved to show off! Definitely not how a corset is supposed to fit. It was a real bummer, but I am convinced that a size 32 would have fit much better. For those who are worried about going smaller, I want to add that the mesh material will stretch a good whole size or two, so be aware.

I am still just smitten with the fact that this corset is really a two-for-one. I like that I can change it up. If I am feeling girly I can go for the pink side, and if I am feeling a little more dark, I can switch to black. This is also one of those pieces of lingerie that could actually be worn out in public. This is always a plus for me, especially when we are going to a nightclub or lounge where it is more fit.

The thong that comes included fit me fine, but don't expect anything amazing, just standard quality. The stockings however, were actually quite nice. I liked the black lining at the top, though they didn't fit quite as well as I would have hoped. They were a little too tight around the thighs. I do have slightly larger thighs than most who are my size, so this was expected.

And finally, you will want to hand wash the corset and thong in cold water and line dry. Not the most convenient, but since I already have other pieces of lingerie that must be hand washed as well, I can just plan to wash them all around the same time.
