Flawless lace back babydoll - babydoll and panty set by DreamGirl - review by SMichelle

Before I begin, I want to say that this is kind of a big review for me, being that it will mark 100 reviews! This is a piece that I lusted after when I first saw it on Eden Fantasy's, before I even began reviewing items. It seems fitting that I make it my 100th review.

After several months of having this chemise on my wishlist, I finally went ahead and purchased it. I had some hesitations about it, but there was something about it that screamed to me. Perhaps it's the sexy red and black color combination, or maybe it's the sexy center panel. Whatever it is, I'm glad I took the chance on this one, despite the fact that many of my hesitations turned out to be justified.

Basics:
DreamGirl presents to us this amazing chemise (although they list it as a babydoll). The chemise comes with a "matching" thong, and a plastic hanger. Costing only $29.99 full price, this item is a great buy.

Material & Care:
Both pieces are made out of 90% Polyester and 10% Spandex.

The chemises cups and center panel are made of a solid, thick material that feels wonderful against the skin, and looks amazing to the eye. This thick material is opaque in nature, providing the wearer with some coverage. The panel features a beautiful floral print. The print is subtle, as it's the same color as the background, but sometimes subtle is very sexy. In this case, subtle is definitely sexy! While I absolutely adore the thick, floral paneling, it does have a drawback. That drawback? It's not stretchy, which means the center of the chemise, and the cups, are not going to stretch.

The sides and back of the chemise are made up of a very sheer mesh. The mesh is soft, and quite comfortable. It doesn't itch at all, like some mesh can. The mesh does stretch a great deal, which is a good thing.

Finally, there is red lace which is found on the top of cups, and on the bottom of the chemise. The lace is very soft -- it doesn't itch at all! The lace is not very stretchy, but it doesn't really need to be.

The included thong is made of a basic black mesh. It doesn't exactly match the chemise, as it's just the mesh, but it's okay. Personally the thong was a throwaway for me, but I knew that it would be (they always are). The thong features a cotton pantyliner, making it suitable for everyday use, if you actually find it comfortable.

To wash this set, it's best to hand wash it in cold water, and then allow it to line dry. Although the material feels durable, I would recommend following those instructions as machine washing may mess up the lacing in the back.

Sizing:
Dreamgirl has made this set available in only three sizes: small, medium, and large. I purchased a large, but I could've probably used an XL.

According to the size chart, a large should fit someone with the following measurements:
Cups: C-D
Bust: 36-38"
Waist: 28-32"
Hips: 38-40"

Looking at those measurements, this should fit me just fine. I wear a large C/small D, an underbust of 32", a waist of 32", and hips that measure 40". Technically this does fit me okay, but it's a tight fit. This is not going to fit anyone larger, especially in the cups and hips! Truthfully, I'd say that this chemise is probably best suited to a small C cup or lower. My slightly larger breasts do fit, but they tend to pop out and overflow the cups. Not a huge deal, as after all, I only wear this for my lover.

The lacing on the back makes this piece fairly adjustable, but it's still not going to fit larger than the size chart. At least not properly, anyway.

The included thong is snug on me. It fits, but it gives me some serious muffin top, and it's not at all comfortable. I tossed the thong almost as soon as I received it.

Design:
This chemise is meant to be form fitting, so yes, it will cling to your curves.

To slip this on, you simply pull it over your head. The problem with this is, when you pull it over your head you might mess up the lacing in the back. I've had the lacing come untied when I slipped this on, but it doesn't take much effort to tie it again (just so long as the lacing doesn't come out of the holes -- I haven't had that happen yet).

The center panel going down of the chemise provides an interesting, sexy look. I like that the center panel is opaque, whereas the sides are sheer. I think it makes for a nice contrast.

The top of the cups, and the bottom hemline is lined with red lace. The lace has a floral print, and scalloped edges. On the bottom hemline, the lace seems to actually fall into a little ruffle, which is very sweet. I just love ruffles! There is also decoration on this chemise in the form of a fairly large red bow. The bow is found right between the cups, and it is not removable.

The cups on this chemise are not padded like I expected them to be. I'm really happy that they're not, because padded cups always look awful on me. While the cups aren't padded, they do have underwire. The underwire helps to provide some support. My breasts were supported by the underwire, but it didn't really lay flat on me due to my breasts being a bit too big for the cups.

The shoulder straps, which are adjustable, also help to provide some bust support. The shoulder straps are not removable.

Now, the main feature of this chemise -- the sexy lacing in the back. The back is laced up with red ribbons. There are two ribbons involved in the lacing: one that starts at the bottom and goes up to the middle, and one that stops at the top, and goes down the middle. The lacing is designed so that it goes in a crisscross pattern. The lacing can be untied and adjusted, but doing so is kind of a pain.

Packaging:
This arrived hanging on a plastic black hanger. It was covered in plastic to protect it. There was also a little hang tag, with a photograph of the model on it. That is the extent of the packaging. Minimal, yes, but sufficient as well.

Quality:
I'm truly impressed with the quality. I have no complaints here. The sewing is great, the material feels strong...it's truly a great item!

I'm giving this 4 stars, only taking off one because of sizing issues.

I love the sexiness of this piece. I do kind of wish that the sides were opaque, as well, but I love it even though it's not fully opaque.

I did have one of the underwires pop out shortly after I wrote my initial review. I ended up removing the other underwire myself. I was surprised to find that I got an even better fit with the underwire removed -- and that I was still able to get some bust support!
