Open back garter dress - chemise discontinued by DreamGirl - review by Breas

The Open Back Garter Dress by DreamGirl is available only in one-size-fits-most and in the colour black. I’ve found that the gartered dresses like these usually have a lot of stretch to them, so even though I usually wear an XL, I purchased it anyway.

The outfit arrived in a cardboard package surrounded by a plastic covering. The front of the package states the company name, size, and colour. The front also has a photo of a model wearing the outfit. The back of the packaging has the same information as the front, as well as the material composition, care instructions, company website, and has a back view of the model wearing the outfit.



Inside of the package, the outfit is wrapped around a cardboard piece, surrounded by even more plastic. The packaging can be recycled. I don’t find it ideal for storing the outfit when not in use.

The outfit is 95% nylon and 5% spandex. The entire outfit is very, very stretchy. The packaging says that the one-size-fits-most outfit would fit best on those between the weights of 90-160lb. I am just above the highest weight in that bracket. I’ve taken measurements of the outfit laying flat, unstretched, but have taken some measurements of the outfit stretched as much as I could. I’ve noted which measurements are stretched. If you need additional measurements, send me a message.

Collar width unstretched: 12 inches
Collar width stretched as much as I could: 24 inches
Collar length: 2 inches
Sleeve length unstretched: 16 ½ inches
Length of dress unstretched (armpit to bottom of dress): 17 inches
Lace garter strap length: 7 inches each

Length from bottom of scooped neck to bottom of dress (part that covers your bum) unstretched: 7 inches

Like I had said, the dress is extremely stretchy so it will stretch to fit (to an extent of course).

The collar of the dress does up at the back of the neck with two snap closures. There is a distance of a little over 1 inch between the snaps. The collar is a thick piece of stretchy lace. Along the bottom of the dress and the top of the stockings, there is a 1 ¾ inch lace ruffle.





The entire outfit is one piece; the dress is attached to the garters and the garters are attached to the stockings. The “garters” are actually just pieces of stretchy lace. There is no padding or underwire in the chest area, which may bother those who are looking for a lingerie piece with support.

The outfit does not come with a panty, but any black panty that you may already have should do. You could also just wear the outfit with no panties, because taking the outfit off for intercourse can be a bit of a mood killer. To put the outfit on, you can step into the outfit, slip the stockings on and then pull of the top section of the dress and snap the collar closures shut. To take the outfit off, you just do those steps backwards.

The outfit has a lovely lace design on it, and the stockings are matching. You can see the lace design in the photo below. The more you need to stretch the outfit, the more sheer it becomes. If you are on the larger end of the weight bracket mentioned above, it will be quite revealing and not look like it does in the stock photo. I found the lace outfit to be a bit stiff. It didn’t feel scratchy against my skin, but it wasn’t soft either. The feeling isn’t intolerable, but I figured I should mention it for those who are looking for more comfort.



The garter straps did not sag on me. I’m 5’6 and they were a good length though I can see them being saggy on those who are shorter. The outfit fit my size XL body. The only small issue I had was with the band at the bottom of the dress. My thick thighs were a little too thick for the dress. It still fit me, but it was a tad tight on the bottom of the dress (the lace trim at the bottom of the dress only stretches so much, unlike the rest of the dress). The back of the dress covered my bum nicely, and the collar was not too tight or uncomfortable.

There is no care tag in the outfit but the packaging states that the outfit should be hand washed separately in cold water and line dried. The outfit should not be bleached.

I’ve decided to give the outfit a 4 out of 5. The reason the outfit loses a star is because the material is a bit stiff (less soft), making it less comfortable against the skin. I will definitely wear this outfit again because my partner loved it, though it isn’t the most comfortable piece I have.
