Striped fishnet thigh highs - hosiery by Leg Avenue - review by Jul!a

The packaging for these was pretty minimal, although typical of Leg Avenue stockings. They were wrapped around a piece of cardboard inside another cardboard insert. The front of the insert shows a model wearing them, and the back has the sizing information, material list, and care instructions. These lovely stockings are 96% Nylon and 4% Spandex and should be hand washed in warm water and drip dried. I personally feel comfortable running them through the washing machine in a lingerie bag, but do that at your own risk.

The basic design is simple; fishnet stockings with a support band around the top. The band at the top is definitely thick and sturdy, just over 1 1/2" tall, and doesn't stretch much. Laid flat it's about 5 1/4" across and stretches up to about 8" but at that point I think they'll really dig in. From there you have a simple fishnet design with a new twist, some fun woven stripes! They go all the way from the top to the toes, with 4 sets of 3 strips a piece evenly spaced all the way around the stocking. The spacing will of course vary while being worn based on the thickness of your leg at that point. The toes aren't reinforced, and your toes will likely try to escape most of the night.

These will look best on tall skinny legs, but don't look that bad on short legs. Where they sat on me was about 20 1/2" around and there was a bit of a muffin top where I could feel them digging in. After about 10 hours I was definitely ready to take them off, but they didn't cause me much pain. I'd still recommend them for thighs not much bigger than 19 or 20" though. My inseam is about 29", and these came up about 24" or so. They'd have gone up farther if my thighs were slimmer, but they didn't make me feel like I shouldn't have bothered putting them on because my legs are obviously way too short to wear them.

The overall quality is average I'd say. The netting isn't super soft, but it's not rough either. Most legs won't have a problem with how they feel. The band is thick enough to make wearing with garters difficult, but not impossible, and that's actually how I'd recommend wearing them since the band did roll on me and probably will roll on most other legs as well without one. The stripes can be a pain to line up if you don't focus on it the entire time you're putting them on. If you get everything lined up right away and keep making small adjustments as you put them on, it won't be a bit deal though.

While these did dig in a bit and my toes peeked out a bit, I still actually like them. There's more to them than your average pair of stockings visually, and I didn't find them to be uncomfortable at all. I definitely recommend pairing these with a garter belt of some sort, since I had a lot of problems getting them to stay up.

I do think that with the right thigh circumference, these could easily be a 4 or 5 star pair of stockings for some women. For most though, I think they'll be a 3 star at best. I'd give them a 3.5 if I could since they aren't so awesome I want to wear them all the time, but I do like them all the same. Given the limited number of people these will work for, I'm bumping it down to 3.
