Red rose satin corset set - corset and panty set discontinued by DreamGirl - review by Coralbell

The Red Rose set is made up of a corset, thong, and matching stockings. When I decided to order this set, I was a bit worried about the quality of the materials. I have purchased 2 babydolls from Dream Girl in the past, and I thought they looked and felt cheap. When I received this set, I was pleasantly surprised. The satin is smooth, soft and stretchy, the mesh and embroidery aren't scratchy, and the set appears well sewn. I was also unsure if I would like the colour, since the pictures show very different shades of red. In person, it is neither the pinkish/burgundy colour shown on the model, nor the bright, orangey red shown on the mannequin. I would describe it as a rich, true red. The mesh and embroidered parts are a shade darker than the satin and stockings.

This set doesn't come in Small, Medium and Large sizes with a size chart provided like most pieces on the site do. Instead, the sizes are numbered and are supposed to correspond with bra band size. I wear a 34 B bra, so I ordered size 34. Unfortunately, the sizing isn't accurate, and the corset runs very large. I think the size number more accurately reflects the waist measurement it would fit than the band size. I would recommend the size 34 corset to someone with a 38 B or C cup size, and a waist that is at least 30 inches. I have a 28 inch waist, and there was extra material bunched up around my stomach. The satin is very stretchy, and the corset easily fits over my butt, so I know it would easily be able to accomodate at least a 37 inch waist.

The corset is made up of 2 parts, an embroidered mesh bra with underwire, and the main satin portion. Both pieces have a set of removable, adjustable straps attached. I'm not a big fan of the doubled up straps, and I think it looks better if the set attached to the bra is removed. The bra fit my B cup breasts well, but since the back portion is way too loose on me, the cups don't sit in the right position and ride half way up my breasts. The corset laces up the front with satin ribbon through fabric loops. It fastens in the back with hook and eyes, and there are 3 settings which allows you to make the corset a bit tighter or looser. There are only 2 pieces of plastic boning in this "corset", that go down each side of the body. Unfortunately, this corset doesn't cinch in the waistline at all and the thin, shiny, stretchy material is not very forgiving, and will show any lumps and bumps you might want to hide. The garter straps are removable, have plastic clasps, and can be adjusted from 3 to 6 inches long.

The panties fit me, but wouldn't work if I was any larger. They will work best for those who measure 35-37 inches around the widest part of their hips. The front portion is the same embroidered, mesh material as the bra cups, and the crotch and back portions are satin. There is a cotton liner.

The thigh-high stockings match well with the set. I have a 32 inch inseam, and they come up to about 5 inches below my crotch. They have elastic tops, but if I try to wear them without garters the tops roll down. They aren't too small on me, but the firm elastic slightly digs into my less firm, 22 inch thighs.

The material is 92% polyester, 8% elastane. The set should be hand washed in cold water, and line dried.

Overall, I was very disappointed with this set. The corset just doesn't fit me at all, to the point that it is completely unwearable. I really wish the manufacturer would provide a full and accurate size chart. Even if the size 34 actually worked for a 34 band size, they should provide guidelines for cup and hip sizes. I thought about getting a size 32 if it comes back into stock, but I still don't know if that would fit me, so I decided not to risk wasting any more money on it.

I threw the corset away. I don't think it would really work for any body type, so I didn't bother trying to give it to someone else. I have worn the stockings along with a black and red outfit. I have worn the panties a couple of times too, but I don't actually have anything that matches very well with them. Both the panties and stockings have stood up well to being washed.
