The Gypsy Dancer Costume by DreamGirl arrived packaged in a cardboard box. The front of the box has a photo of a model wearing the outfit, along with the name of the company, product name, and size. The back of the box has the same information as the front, and also states the contents of the box and the company website. The back states that the one size fits most is best for those who fall between the weight categories of 90-160lbs.

All of the contents inside are wrapped in a plastic bag. The plastic bag does not make for good storage, and I don’t feel that the box does either. The box can be recycled if you are like me and prefer other storage methods.



The set includes a crotchless g-string, bra, headband and a cape. The cape attaches to a coin choker, and has matching wristbands that are attached as well. The first thing I noticed when I took the contents out of the bag was the feeling of the cape. The material is a bit stiff and seemed to have the potential to be extremely bothersome to the skin. The front of the g-string is made of the same material, but is much softer to the touch.

The tag states that the outfit is 100% polyester. This of course is exclusive of the decoration. All of the pieces that need to fit a certain way (choker, wristbands, g-string, bra) are made of/or have elastic band to them so that you can stretch the pieces to size. Below is a photo of the headband. You can see the detail in the lace, as well as the dangling coins in this photo.

Bra
Length of band under chest that ties in back: 53 inches
Neck ties: 19 ½ inches each
“Cup” length: 4 ½ inches

G-string
Unstretched: 14 inches
Stretched as much as I could: 27 inches
Crotchless slit length: 4 inches

The bra is made up completely of elastic band, other than the “cups”, which have 3lines of lace running across them, with the coin decoration dangling off the lace. The bra ties behind the back, and behind the neck. The elastic band is quite long, so this should accommodate a variety of sizes to fit into it. In the stock photo, the bra seems to have coins in between the cups, but the set I received does not have this. Instead, it is just the elastic band. Also, the top row of dangling coins on the cup only has one coin on it, unlike the stock photo, which shows multiple dangling coins on this row.



The neck strap choker necklace has 5 dangling coins on it, and is made of elastic band. The neck strap is adjustable in size with the Velcro closure. The back of the neck strap has the cape attached to it.



Approximately 10 inches up from the bottom of each side of the cape, is the wristbands. The wristbands are elastic band with 4 dangling coins on each. These wristbands are attached to the cape, but they could easily be removed (same goes for the neck strap). I tried to take a decent photo of the cape, but it’s quite long and wide so I wasn’t able to stretch it completely out. Below is the photo.



The g-string has two side straps, with a ¾ inch between them. The front of the g-string has two rows of lace with dangling coins, and the very back centre of the g-string has 3 dangling coins and a small piece of lace. You can see both the front and back view of the g-string below.

The overall quality of the set is quite low. While it is a cute set, you really can’t expect breath-taking quality for $23.99. There were quite a few frays in the material and loose threads when I had received it. Also, the dangling coins are held on by cheap o-rings, which many of them are not completely secure.

When I wore the outfit, it really bothered my skin. The lace trim that is sewn to the elastic band is very, very scratchy. It was especially bothersome on my chest. I really hadn’t worn it for long because it was too bothersome to me. The g-string was fine, and the headband was okay, but the rest was just too scratchy against my skin. Even though the outfit felt terrible, it fit me fine.

I decided to give the set a 2 out of 5. This was really hard for me to do because the outfit is just so cute. I really wanted to love it. The outfit lost one star because of the quality. The other two stars was because of how terribly uncomfortable the material and lace feel against the skin. Normally I can handle a bit of scratchiness, but this was just too much for me.

Sadly, I haven't worn this costume since the initial review. The material was just too scratchy against my skin. It's been sitting in my closet. I still don't know what I'm going to do with it. It's really too bad because it's a sweet outfit.
