Racer back mini dress - mini dress discontinued by Espiral - review by Red Vinyl Kitty

I've had a real kink for latex and shiny, skin tight vinyl for a long time now. What could be better than a shiny second skin? Nothing! The biggest downsides that latex and vinyl have though are their high maintenance level. Latex must be cleaned and polished with a special cleaner and polish, or it will become brittle and fall apart. Vinyl is similar, except that depending on the quality of the vinyl it might fall apart even if you clean and polish it frequently. Vinyl also has a tendency to stretch out, and the stretched out lines will show in the fabric. Wet look things never appealed to me in the past, because I thought that they would just look cheap and silly. I've tried a couple of wet look things though recently, and I am very happy. I think I'll be adding more wet-look into my arsenal!


When my dress arrived, it was gorgeous, and I was so excited to try it on! The dress comes in a small rectangle shaped "box" that looks similar to the type of packaging you get pantyhose or thigh highs in. I am 5'2", 145 pounds. I wear a 34-36D bra (depending on brand), have a 33" waist, and a 40" hip. This is a review of the XL size. The dress clings to all my curves and makes me feel like a million bucks.


The dress is a pretty basic design on its own. The zipper is a nice touch. Not only does it work well (and, that seems to be an issue with lingerie, for me!), but it's a bit "blingy". The zipper is set in a sparkly silver fabric, and it really is a nice touch on an otherwise plain dress style. The zipper does not unzip the entire length of the dress. It is 7 3/4" long, and can easily be unzipped or left as-is to show off your ta-tas.


The overall length of the dress is 31". For me, and my petite frame, the dress goes a bit longer than mid-thigh. This is definitely an appropriate length to me to wear out of the house to a party or the club. Taller girls beware, the dress will likely not be so long.


This is a great dress for moderate to larger sized breasts. I think a C-DD would be perfect for the bust area, though if you are smaller you could always unzip the bust a little bit to show off some more cleavage. The dress measures 15" across, but can easily stretch up to 22".


The waist of the dress measures 14" and stretches up to 18", while the hip portion of the dress measures 16" flat, and stretches up to 20". The dress is very form fitting, and will show off your every curve. Some will like this, others may not.


My favorite part of the dress is the racer back! I have not owned a dress with this style, and I usually see this on sports bras or tank tops more than anything. Because of the shininess of the fabric, the racer back makes the dress look a bit sci-fi-ish to my husband and me. We really love this, and I think the dress would be an amazing addition to anyone's Halloween costume, as a club outfit, or even sexy lingerie for around the house.


The dress is made from a polyester/spandex blend. I had no trouble putting this in a lingerie bag on delicate to wash, and hanging it up on the drying rack to dry. I wouldn't put this in the dryer. I think it would ruin the fabric!

This dress has really taught me that wet look designs can be just as lovely as latex or vinyl, in its own way. I'm not going to replace my latex and vinyl, however, the simplicity of throwing this in the washing machine has piqued my interest, and I will definitely be on the look out for more easy to care for wet look designs.


My husband and me also love how perfect this is to wear during sex. The dress can easily be "scooted" up to get access to the lower bits, and the zipper is perfect for letting your breasts out. He has access to everything he wants, while still wearing something fun.
