What was I thinking?!

If I could go back in time, I never would've bought this piece. The design of the top is ridiculous, and the material feels absolutely awful. If you enjoy the feeling of a cheap swimsuit, you might enjoy this. Otherwise, I'd suggest getting something else.

Have you ever bought something that just makes you say... "Why..? What was I thinking when I bought that? What were the designers thinking when they made THAT?" This piece is THAT piece for me. This is the piece that has me staring at in a mix of confusion and frustration, asking why. Needless to say, it's not an item that I will get much (or any) use out of. Anyway -- just because I really dislike this piece doesn't mean that it won't work for someone else, so let's get to discussing the item already.

Basics:
This two piece set is made by Espiral. The set includes the halter-style top, and the mini-skirt. The set is available in pink, silver, or black. I chose the black option.

Material & Care:
This set is made out of 97% Nylon and 3% Spandex. As you might guess by the limited amount of spandex, the amount of stretch in this piece is very minimal. There is some stretch -- just not a lot.

The exterior of the material has a sort of shine to it, and it appears to glimmer a bit in the light. Unfortunately, however, I just thought that it looked cheap and tacky, rather than sexy and glamorous. The feel of the material is also cheap and tacky, in my opinion. It's smooth and almost satiny, but somehow it just feels nasty. It reminds me of a very cheap bathing suit, which is not something that I find sexy. In all honesty, the feel of the material my skin crawl each time I touch it. Other reviewers have described the material as being lovely, though, so perhaps I just got a bad set?

The interior of the set is matte, and a bit stiff to the touch. It's not uncomfortable or itchy at all; it just doesn't feel "sexy" or "nice."

To care for this set, I would recommend washing it by hand in cold water, and then allowing it to line dry.

Sizing:
When I buy lingerie, I usually purchase a large or a medium. For Espiral, however, I always size up to an XL. This is because Espiral seems to run small.

According to the size chart, an XL should fit someone with the following measurements:
Bust: 40
Waist: 31
Hips: 40

For this particular set, the waist measurement is irrelevant. Instead, you're going to want to pay attention to your bust and hip measurements.

I typically wear a 34D bra, and I have a 40" waist. This set fit me okay, but I doubt it would fit anyone larger. The skirt just doesn't have a lot of stretch, and it was honestly a bit of a struggle getting into it (for me). The top itself fits okay, but the cups are pretty small; I felt like I bursting out of them. If you have smaller breasts, this set might work better for you than it did for me.

Design:
Okay, this set looks as pictured, so I'm not really going to describe every little thing about it. You can see the picture on a product page; you know what to expect.

There are some things that I do want to point out, though --
** The skirt has a runched effect, which is pretty flattering (if the skirt fits properly). If you have to stretch the skirt to its fullest potential, you're going to lose that runched effect.

** The skirt is short. Basically, expect it to only just cover your bum, because that's all it really does.

** You will not get a whole lot of support from the top. There is absolutely no underwire or padding, so there's not a lot to hold the girls up. Any support you do get will come from the halter neck tie, which means busty girls might experience some back/neck pain from wearing this set.

** The bits that cover the breasts are really thin, so... you're going to probably experience a bit of side boob with this one.

** The ties on the top are slippery, so it can be difficult to get a secure tie with them.

** The rhinestone details on the metal piece between the cups are a bit cheap looking.

** The loop thing that hangs off the top? What were they thinking? It looks ridiculous and sloppy, and it doesn't add anything to this outfit at all.

Quality:
Meh... The quality is okay; nothing special. The material feels cheap and terrible, and there were quite a few loose threads. Still, it's not horrible.
Follow-up commentary
Ick. I absolutely hate this piece, and I feel awful whenever I put it on. It has been in my collection for months now, and I never feel the desire to wear it. When I do pull it out of my closet by mistake, it quickly gets thrown back.

I think it is safe to say that this thing will never get any use from me.

I did try cutting off the loop, to see if that helped. It was a minor improvement, but that's about it.

I wanted this one but now it is gone. Maybe it is a good thing. I have the other one that is some what similar to this, that you also did a review on. Thanks for sharing!

The material sounds like it would bother me too! I think the loop piece looks out of place. Sorry you didn't like it.

I can't believe they consider a 40" hip to be XL! My hips are 40", and I wear a size 6 dress and 8 jeans. I wish I could feel the fabric to see what you mean about it feeling cheap...is it really thin? Or a low denier (thread-count)?

The pic looks so sexy. Too bad it's not. Thanks for the review.

Until you pointed it out and I looked at the pictures in detail, I thought that the loop clipped to the skirt, which made a lot more sense to me. Having it just kind of hanging there seems less than flattering. Thanks for reviewing!

By the way, perhaps it would be improved by simply cutting off that dangling fabric loop right under the band?

Thank you for the answer! I think I have a better mental image now. I'll be interested to hear whether removing the fabric loop makes you like it any better!
