A Better Dildo than Vibrator

As a vibrator this piece gave a lackluster performance. The bullet was weak, buzzy, and smelled like it was burning. Also the vibes didn't carry to the top of the toy, but were centered at the base. That's just a bad combination. The glass by itself is pretty and unique. It has a nice curve that might be nice on the G-spot for some women.

Use

Icicles #35 is a glass dildo with a bullet to turn it into a vibrator. It makes a better dildo than a vibrator though. The bullet is just not effective enough nor is the glass a good conductor of the vibrations. At the base of the toy near the bullet the vibrations are medium strength. But they can barely be felt on the shaft and tip. I have more details on the bullet's shortcomings in the function section of this review.

The best thing about it is the nice curve to stimulate the G-spot. It is easy to manipulate right on the sweet spot. Of course it wouldn't work for every woman's anatomy, but it should be good for many. If you like a dildo minus the vibrations, this might work well for you. It is easy to use as a solo toy or your partner can take the controls.

Glass is fun because it's great for temperature play. Place the glass part in the a bowl of water or the fridge for a frosty treat. Alternately it can be warmed up in hot water for a warm feel. I prefer the sensation of cold glass. It never fails to please. The glass without the bullet could be taken into the shower or tub. Just be careful not to drop it.

The swirled end of this forms a flared base so this is safe for anal if you choose. I didn't try it this way, but it would be safe to do so.

Material / Texture

The glass is made from the same glass as pyrex. It's a very strong and thus safe glass. It will not shatter. If it breaks it will likely break in chunks. Even so, glass should be checked for chips and scratches before every use. Don't use if it has any.

Glass is also safe for the body. It is a 10/10 on Eden's safety scale. It is nonporous, waterproof, phthalate free, and hypoallergenic. Cleaning is easy and it can be completely sterilized. The bullet is plastic which rates an 8/10 on the safety scale. It is also easy to clean.

It is mostly smooth and very rigid of course. Glass does not have any give at all. Keep that in mind if you use it for thrusting. The hard material could cause bruising if the thrusting was rambunctious enough. The hard material does feel bigger than softer material of the same size. This glass has a girth of 3.25 inches. It's not real big and should be fine for both beginners and vetrans of sextoys.

The design does offer some texture for extra stimulation. I found it to be minimal and subtle.

Design / Shape / Size

Number 35 is a light transparent burnt orange color. It's an unusual color and I think quite pretty. From the product page the design looks whimsical and fun. Up close there are parts I like and parts I don't. The top just looks like they threw some texture designs together and called it good. The head has a bulge on one side that resembles an exaggerated curled under hairdo. There are also nubs on each side of this bulge. The nubs provide some discernable texture, but the rest is too subtle for me to feel while in use. The location of the nubs reminds me of the screws in Frankensteins neck. Am I making this sound appealing? I really did not find the tip to be aesthetically pleasing. The rest of the toy is nice, though. There are two long wavy lines going down each side of the glass. I do love the curve in the shaft. It's visually appealing as well as functional. The bottom of the glass has a swirled design that leaves a hole for the bullet. I really like the design here. It's classy and elegant.

The toy doesn't scream sex toy at least it doesn't when the bullet isn't attached. It could pass as a piece of art for the uninitiated. However, if the bullet is lying around you'd be busted.

The hole for the bullet is small. Its diameter is just over an inch. It would be possible to use a different bullet if you have something small enough. The trick is having something small enough. I don't have anything that is both strong and small. Salsa is just a tad too big to fit. That would have been nice if it fit. If the bullet wasn't used, the bottom section makes a nice handle. The hole makes a nice finger hold.

Functions / Performance / Controls

I found the bullet to be worthless. It is a small buzzy bullet that fits snugly in place. It has 10 vibration settings. In my hand the vibes felt strong but buzzy. When placed in the glass, the vibrations do not travel up the entire glass. The vibrations are best felt at the bottom of the glass. This is where the clit comes into contact so maybe it is by design. The shaft and tip only receive the faintest of vibes. I wish the vibrations carried more through the entire dildo. This does not provide a strong or even moderate intensity on the shaft of the glass. You're much better off looking at other vibrators for that. I didn't find using the bullet to be much fun at all.

The bullet is connected to the controller by a 21 inch wire. The wire can be unplugged from both the bullet and the controller. However to run, it all needs to be hooked up. It's not a wireless system. Aside from the weak intensity when used in conjunction with the glass, the bullet has another problem. After only a very short usage time, it was very warm and emitted a slight burning smell. That does not bode well. I don't expect it to last very long at all. I don't even trust it for use now.

The controller is plastic. Without the batteries it feels very cheap, like it would fall apart very easily. The batteries give it a bit more substance, but it is just a cheap plastic controller. It has 2 buttons that control the function. One turns it on and off. The other cycles through the settings. The settings are...
1. Low steady
2. Medium steady
3. High steady
4. Fast pulses
5. Three fast pulses followed by one long pulse21 inch
6. Escalating up, down, up, down
7. Pulses that slowly intensify
8. Slow pulse/Medium pulse/Fast pulse
9. Low pulse followed by several medium pulses
10. Lots of fast pulses followed by one long pulse

Like I said, the bullet is worthless. In just the time it took to write down all the settings, the bullet got very warm and has the funky burning smell. I won't be using this bullet anymore. I just don't trust it.

The glass by itself does have that nice curve for the G-spot. That's the only thing I like about this. It was easy to hit my G-spot. The minimal texture felt nice. It's not the best glass toy I have, but it nice. It is slim with a circumference of 3.25 inches. The tip is tapered nicely making insertion easy. I didn't need any lube for this, but any kind of lube is acceptable when needed.

Care and Maintenance

Care of glass is very easy. It can be washed with soap and water, a toy cleaner, or a 10% bleach solution. It can also be boiled or run through the dishwasher. Glass can be completely sanitized making it a very safe toy to share.

Glass is also compatible with any kind of lube whether water based or silicone. Since the bullet is plastic there are no worries about the type of lube here either.

The bullet is plastic. Since the wire disconnects, it is very easy to clean. Wash it in soap & water, with a toy cleaner, or with 10% bleach solution. Since the motor is located here, don't boil or put it in the dishwasher. The plastic controller can be cleaned the same way.

Packaging

The toy arrived in a rectangular box with a picture of the glass on the front. Inside the toy is nestled in styrofoam mold. It does not come with a pouch or anything else suitable long term storage. For now I am keeping it in the box. Eventually the mold will break and I will have to find another storage option. The glass does need to be protected during storage so it doesn't break or chip.

Personal comments

I am giving this a rating of 2. I just can't give it any higher because it really doesn't deliver as a vibrator. I think most who are interested in purchasing would be disappointed in it. However, I did find some uses for it. The glass by itself is a good G-spot dildo. It is easy to insert and the curve makes it easy to manipulate just how I like it. I can feel the nubs, but the rest of the texture is too subtle to be noticed.

I also used it with Mio, a nice strong Cockring. Mio fit nice around the handle. On its highest settings, the vibrations carried all the way to the tip at an intensity around 3. That was nice. Most of the glass vibes are too thin for Mio, but this one worked well.
Follow-up commentary
This was never great for me. The idea of a glass vibrator was very appealing, but this design fell short. The vibrations aren't strong enough as they don't travel through the whole glass. I get it out once in while, but it makes a better dildo than vibrator, AND I have better dildos. All in all it is just a disappointing toy.

I like the look of this toy, but since the vibe is useless I'm not sure if this will appeal to me enough just as a dildo.

Nubs look like the screws in Frankenstein neck?? LOL!!! thank you for the review!! And love the idea of putting a vibrating cock ring on the glass toy. Never thought of that. And... now I have something to try later. X-)
