Made from mostly hard plastic coated by a velvety soft silicone, this toy is very firm. For the strength of it, it's rather quiet compared to some of my other vibrating toys. I have weaker vibes that are much louder! It can definitely be heard under the covers, but behind a closed door you're probably safe, especially with a little music or the TV on. There's no special modes or patterns, just super strong solid vibrations. It takes 3 double A batteries that go in the bottom of the toy, and there's ridges on the twist-off lid that makes it easy to open and shut. There is only one button on the very bottom of the toy, it controls both on/off and mode changes. The first click turns it on (the lower mode), the second click turns it up (high mode), and the third click turns it off again. You cannot turn it off without going through both modes unless you unscrew the battery compartment. Luckily it changes instantly and the button is easy to press, so in case of an emergency (such as someone walking in), you can very quickly double click (or single, depending on which mode you're on) to turn it off. I honestly cannot tell where the motor is on this toy, it's so intensely strong through the entire thing, it has no weak spots!

As far as I can tell, there's nothing on the package that claims this toy is waterproof or water resistant unfortunately. The battery compartment seals tight and the only button on the toy seems to be sealed, but I wouldn't risk it without some sort of cover.

Since the Jumping Gyrator is firm plastic coated with silicone, it's easily sterilizable and doesn't have any crazy textures to collect junk. The toy does take batteries and shouldn't be boiled, clean it with toy cleaning wipes or spray, and sterilize it with a light bleach solution. Because of the material, this toy can be shared safely after being sterilized or wrapped with a condom.

Make sure to avoid silicone based lubricants, as it can damage the toy. Don't use silicone lube even with a condom/toy cover, since most silicone lubricants will break down condoms/toy covers and risk damaging your toy. As with any toy, it's good to use a toy bag to prevent possible reactions with different materials, especially if you store other toys in the same place you'll be storing this one.

Personally I'm never a fan of Cal Exotics packages. They're usually cheap plastic with really badly designed graphics, this one is no exception. With tacky bad typography and bad color choices, it really looks like a kid designed it. The package is completely clear except for the colorful graphics, you can see the toy from every angle, it's not discreet at all. The package could be used for storage (if you don't mind it being see-through) but I wouldn't really recommend it. The flimsy plastic will keep dust away if you have nothing else though. There were very few instructions that came with the package, only a little sheet of paper with picture instructions on how to insert the batteries.

I don't know, but it was sure annoying! Hopefully this doesn't happen to everyone else, but the best advice I can give is just to try every combination you can, your toy probably isn't defective so keep trying.
