The Effie by California Exotics, is a three-speed, pocket sized vibrator that works well for pinpointing areas on the body that need stimulating. This PU coated plastic vibe is easy to use, discreet, and powerful, and whether you're a beginner to vibes or extremely experienced, this toy is sure to please. With its easy to use press button on the base, this vibe is a simple solution to stimulation. This vibe is great for clitoral stimulation, but can also massage the labia. You can even use this vibe for nipple stimulation if you're into that kind of thing.

Since this is a waterproof vibe it can also be used in the shower, but remember not to submerge it as you never know how this toy will react. This toy is simply a basic bullet vibrator, and cannot be used in a harness or used for gender play, nor can it be suctioned to anything. Whether you're at home or on the go, you can take the Effie anywhere. Since this toy is so small, I do not recommend it for g-spot play, and this toy cannot be used anally as it has no flared base and has a higher potential of becoming 'lost' inside of the body.

The Effie is made from PU Coated Plastic and has a rating of 7/10 on the Eden Safety Scale. This type of plastic is compatible with silicone and water-based lubricants, and is silky and velvety to the touch. When moving across the skin, this toy has little to no drag, and has a fair amount of glide, making it the perfect material for beginners new to vibrators. This toy is not textured in any form, and there are zero bumps or ridges on this vibe. There is a light smell to this vibe but one can only smell it when pressing it firmly to their nose, and it smells like new plastic.

This toy has no taste to it either. I did a scratch test on this material and the velvety texture of the coated plastic didn't wane in any form when I raked my nail rather roughly across it. This particular material is latex and phthalate free as well, so no need to worry about chemicals lurking in the plastic. Since this toy is plastic, it means that it is rigid and doesn't flex in any form.

The Effie is shaped like a bullet with a flared end, is light weight, and portable enough to carry with you in your purse or pocket. It has a rounded tip which makes it easier to pinpoint exact locations on the body you wish to stimulate, and the vibrations are strong enough to be felt throughout the entire toy. In fact, if you were to compare this toy to anything in your purse, it would look most like a lipstick tube. This size and the level of the vibrations make this a perfect beginner bullet for users, but more intermediate users can benefit as well due to it's level of intensity. This bullet has three levels of intensity and speed. All of the vibrations taking place, are located in or around the middle of the toy, but can be felt throughout. The button is located on the screw off base at the bottom of the toy, and is easily pressed to turn the toy on and off. In order to turn this toy off, one must cycle through each level of vibration before you press it again to turn the vibrator off. The motor inside of this vibe is more rumbly than buzzy, so it makes for better vibrations, and this particular toy is powered by one AAA battery.

The first level of vibration, is strong and rumbly, and is sure to get you going in your warm up. When you press the button again, the second vibration starts, and the toy gets a little louder. This level you'll notice a considerable amount of difference in sound and vibrations, while not being too loud, but only a little more rumbly. This second level is rather strong in itself as well, and with enough pressure to my clit, can help me achieve orgasm. The third level of vibration, is stronger still, and with this setting you'll hear a bit more of a buzz behind the rumble. This particular setting, while it has the ability to make me reach an orgasm, it's a bit too much and can numb those sensitive areas.

If you plan on using this in water, I recommend using it in the shower, rather than submerging it in the bathtub. There's a possibility that water could get into the toy, and ruin the motor, thus damaging this toy completely. This toy doesn't seem to be a battery guzzler, and the vibrations hold well throughout the toy. The Effie is discreet, but it can be heard through covers, so don't use this with someone else in the room. It cannot however, be heard through a door or wall, so there aren't any worries there. Overall this is a simple, discreet, and easy to use toy.

Cleaning your Effie is fast and easy. You can wash this toy with simple soap and water, a toy cleaner, or simply wipe it down with a toy wipe. Since this toy is waterproof, the entire toy can be rinsed underwater without fear of water seeping into the motor. When finished washing, simply pat it dry with a towel or cloth. PU coated plastic seems to attract dust and dirt easily, so always wipe your toy down before and after each use.

The Effie is compatible with silicone and water-based lubricants, but remember to stay away from oil based. Whenever you're finished using and washing your Effie, remember to return it to either it's cardboard box, or any other packaging you choose.

This little vibrator came to me tucked inside of a plastic baggie in a cardboard box. The front of the box shows a photo of the vibrator, although it is darker on the box than in your hand, as well as a photo of the doctor who designed it, and the name of the vibrator stating that it's waterproof and has three speeds. On one side of the box, it tells about Dr. Laura Berman, and on the other side it tells about the toy. On the back of the box it summarizes the basic functions of the toy, and the batteries it takes in 5 different languages, which include English, German, French, Spanish, and Russian. On the bottom of the box it tells you where you can register your product.

This box would be great for gift wrapping, as it's really sturdy. If you're going to store your vibrator in its original packaging, know that it's not discreet since it has the photo of the toy on the box. If you wish to recycle the packaging, the box is cardboard and can be recycled. Packaging for this toy is rather minimal, but the box is slightly bigger than the toy itself, and the toy bumps around inside. Keep that in mind when storing your toy.

This toy surprised me with it's strength. I am happy I was able to review this toy for California Exotics, as it's a nice addition to my collection. I don't have many vibrators, but I do enjoy the bullets for their discreetness and travel friendly qualities. This particular vibe is something I would recommend to beginners or advanced users looking for a small vibrator that packs a mean punch.
