SinFive Ilo silicone - traditional vibrator discontinued by SINFIVE - review by P'Gell

The Ilo Straight Phallic Vibrator from SinFive is a nice, solid, basic sex toy. This toy is made from 100% silicone, with a plastic base and raised power buttons.

The Ilo is part of the SinFive collection of semi-luxury vibes.

These toys come in a variety of colors, and the Ilo comes in Raspberry (which I have) a light Pink and Black.

The product comes in a luxury toy type box, a plastic insert inserted into a cardboard box, which opens like a book, then it is slipped into a cardboard sleeve which has a picture of the toy on it. Several booklets and instruction books, in many languages come with your toy. Sadly, there is no storage bag, as I had hoped there would be. I store mine wrapped in a gentleman’s handkerchief slipped into a Sugar Sak. This toy would fit well in an Eden Toy bag, a padded bag or in your favorite toy case. I always wrap my toys in handkerchiefs to avoid them touching other toys and to keep them clean.

The Ilo is easily washed in hot water and soap. You can use a toy cleaner, if you will be washing in soap and water before your next use, or for deep cleaning.

The toy contains an antibacterial-antimicrobial and antifungal substance in the material of the body of the toy. I was not able to find out what this antibacterial was, but it is said to prevent bacterial contamination and bacterial growth on the toy. It is said that the molecules of this substance are small and are embedded into the material of the toy, and will not rub off onto skin or body parts. Still, the toy needs to be carefully washed after each use. It appears to be splash proof, although the instructions tell you to remove the batteries while cleaning “in case of a leak.”I saw no evidence of water inside the battery case after washing at any time. The toy does not appear to be “waterproof” however, as the instructions have warnings against placing into water.

The Ilo is about 8 inches long, about 7 inches are insertable. The circumference is between 5 and 5 ½ inches around. It has an unusual X or + shape at the last 4 inches or so of the toy, which makes for interesting stimulation, either while thrusting or twirling the toy while it is inserted. This X shape also works very well for clitoral stimulation. This is the most unique feature of this product and the reason I chose it. It does not have a penis like head on it, which some people may prefer or not, depending on taste.

The silicone is silky soft and most of the vibrator is pretty flexible. It can be bent close to a 45 degree angle, and some women may be able to insert this vibe and obtain clitoral stimulation simultaneously. This is a high quality silicone, but I am kind of old school and do not recommend using anything but a water based lubricant with this product. If you do prefer a silicone lube, please test it near the base of the silicone part of the toy, in case of melting. Chances are it will be OK, but I’m not willing to take that chance with my toys and prefer water based lube anyway.

The power of the Ilo is controlled by 2 AA batteries, which are included with the toy. No frantically searching for batteries when your toy arrives! The power is controlled by a slightly raised + and – symbols near the base. Hitting the plus sign will take you through 6 power levels and three patterns. The patterns consist of first two long bursts of vibration, the second two short burst (repeated) and then “random” patterns of vibration. I found the random patterns somewhat frustrating, as I would get into what was happening and it would change suddenly. With a partner, you can say, “Go back and do what you just did a second ago!” but the random pattern is not so understanding. I usually use this toy with the solid vibration or one of the burst patterns. The power (or Bees) is, from my best estimation, somewhere between a 3 and a 3.75. I usually reserve power levels of 4 for vibes with the strength of a Fun Factory or Orion. (Of course 5s are reserved for Hitachi’s and Wahls and such.) I had a hard time determining the power level of this toy, as it is just a smidgen less powerful than my two favorite phallic vibes when on full power, but not at all a weak toy in any sense.

This is probably enough power to bring most women to orgasm, especially on the higher strengths.

The double AA batteries are placed into body of the toy by unscrewing the cap, the batteries rest in easy to see compartments next to each other. My Man tried to explain to me the power differences between batteries which are “in sequence” (meaning usually one on top of each other) or “in series” one next to the other and connected electronically. But, um, I didn’t understand it. It appears these batteries are “in sequence.”

It isn’t the most powerful toy I own, but certainly is strong enough. It’s a bit louder than a Fun Factory or some others in this price range, but not at all something that can be heard through a closed door, or if you place the covers over your body while using.

I do keep comparing it to the Fun Factory vibes, because it reminds me of them, in size, weight, flexibility, color choices, materials and action. I find the higher end Fun Factory battery operated vibrators a bit more powerful than the Ilo, but this shouldn’t be a problem for most women.

The base of the Ilo is slightly rounded, so sex games like double penetration or using vaginally while receiving oral sex should not be a problem for one’s partner at all. It is also completely suitable for solo play, and should provide a nice full feeling, works well for thrusting, is fun to twirl while in place, either with the power on or off, or using the interesting protrusions for clitoral stimulation, either twirling the bumps over the clitoris, or pressing the tip into the body where ever it feels good. Although the toy does not have a flared base, it is long enough for careful anal stimulation, although full insertion is not recommended. The main purpose of this toy is vaginal insertion and clitoral stimulation.

I have discovered a have a “type” when it comes to phallic vibrators. Longer, girthy, silicone battery operated toys with some texture. I have realized that I have a veritable collection of similar toys, and seem to keep going back for more.

The Ilo satisfies, it’s very pretty, and is a good size for most users. The only downside is that some people may have a hard time with the plus and minus or on-pattern and off buttons. My Man can’t seem to find them; they are slightly raised from the toy, and the same color and very small. They seem more suitable to feminine hands than large, calloused masculine ones. Even though you can turn the toy off by pressing the minus button for a few seconds, (it doesn’t save your pattern, though. You have to start over from the beginning) not go through all the patterns to get to the end, as one may need to do with some less expensive toys.

The price is reasonable for the product; $69.95 which is about a middle price range toy, verging on “luxury” territory.

This would make a good first “good investment” sex toy, or an addition to an already extensive collection.

Sin Five has a winner with the Ilo. It’s innovative design and medium power and high quality will please even the most fussy sex toy aficionado.

I feel nearly exactly the same way.

I have a number of phallic, silicone vibrators, and although this is a really great vibrator, it simply doesn't get used as much as some of my very favorites. I really don't know why; the vibrations are fairly strong, it's made of silicone, it has an interesting texture. But, it usually sits in my toy box untouched for months at a time. (Yes, I really finally took the batteries out of it.)

I think if I had fewer phallic vibrators the Ilo would be one of my favorites, but it's so similar to many that I have, that I simply don't use it all that much.

My favorites are in a bag in my husband's Captain's drawer under our water bed. These are a few select toys that we use nearly daily. I think perhaps if the Ilo had been obtained sooner in my sex toy life, or if it was just a tad larger, it might have gotten more use.

It's a great vibrator. I think most women would enjoy it and still think it is high quality and well made and beautiful. The poor thing just gets forgotten too often.

You know you probably have too many toys when you rarely use a high quality toy like the Ilo.
