While this isn't my favorite vibe of all time, it's a good toy for beginners and a bargain buy. The plastic is smooth, and the curves and bumps are a nice touch to a basic toy.

Use

This is a pretty standard vibe, with a couple of extra bumps and curves for added pleasure. It's good for external stimulation and penetration, although neither is mind-blowing. This is a good toy for beginners because it is basic, phthalates-free, and non-porous.

Material / Texture

Besides the bumps, this is a really smooth toy and it feels great. I'm pleased to report that it doesn't smell like anything - which is a very good thing. I'm glad to see Cal Exotics putting out affordable vibes that are safer than the old stand-by jelly. While plastic is not as good as silicone or aluminum, it is phthalate-free, non-porous and can be cleaned with anti-bacterial soap.

Design / Shape / Size

This is definitely a toy that's made for beginners. The rounded tip is great for easy insertion and the bumps are definitely a plus. At 7 inches long with a 1.25 inch diameter, this vibe is definitely on the small side, but not so tiny that it's a waste of time for more experienced users.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The Lola is multi-speed and has a simple dial base that controls the speed. It's power isn't going to blow anyone's mind, but it's good enough to get the job done. My only complaint about the control is that the control twist is below the twist off battery compartment, and I opened the battery compartment instead of adjusting the speed once. That kind of sucked.

It's pretty noisy, but I've found that's often the case with plastic vibes. It is also waterproof and I've taken it in the shower once and not had any problems. To be honest, I'm a bit nervous about submerging it.

Care and Maintenance

Care and maintenance are pretty easy. I take out the batteries when I'm storing it and suggest you do the same for all toys. Clean up is a snap, all you need to do is wash it with anti-bacterial soap and since it's waterproof you don't have to be too careful. Plastic is compatible with both water-based and silicone-based lubricants, which means you don't have to think too much when reaching for your favorite lube.

Packaging

The packaging is a bit flimsy, but attractive. I really like the fact that you see the vibe behind the picture and get an idea of what size it is. One thing I really loved, and this may seem silly, is the fact that there is a piece of paper in the battery chamber that shows you that the positive end goes in first. So helpful! I wouldn't use the box for storage, it's too flimsy and not convenient.

    I will be reviewing this in the next few days as well and have a question for you. When I received the vibe, the part where it screws off to reveal the battery compartment lined up perfectly with the bumps and ridges on the body of the toy. It was a smooth line all the way down. When I unscrewed the cap and put the batteries in, I've been unable to line them up again. The bumps on the cap fall between the bumps on the shaft. I've been unable to line them up again no matter how hard I try.

    Did this happen to you? It makes me nervous about bringing it in the shower because I'm afraid that water will be able to find it's way in.

    I didn't have that problem and i just undid the whole thing to make sure there wasn't something I was missing. Are the Cal Exotic people on Eden Link? That might be a good question for them. Sorry you're having trouble!
