OhMi! That IS Pointy!

The idea of a music controlled vibrator has always intrigued me so I was very excited when my Freestyle G showed up in the mail. Unfortunately it didn't quite live up my expectations, the tip is so pointy that it winds up scratching me instead of stimulating me. It's quality also doesn't live quite up to it's price tag, but it did peak my interest enough to leave the rest of the OhMiBod products on my wishlist in hopes that I'll find one that works better for my body.

Use

The Freestyle G-Spot vibrator is part of a revolutionary line of toys designed by OhMiBod. Each and every one of these toys do more than just vibrate, they can be hooked up to any music device with an audio jack and will pulse to the beat of the music! If you choose not to hook it up to a music player it also features 7 functions of it's own. The Freestyle-G in particular has a wireless design (wires will run from the audio input to the transmitter and to the headphones but no wires are connected to the toy itself) and a curved tip designed to provide pinpoint g-spot stimulation. In addition to g-spot stimulation the Freestyle-G could be used clitorally or on other erogenous zones but I would recommend against using it anally, it is far too smooth and could easily slip from your grip and into the rectum.

Due to it's smooth design and slender size it is easily traveled with and nonintimidating for beginners. It is splashproof, making it easy to clean, but not waterproof so save showertime fun for one of you're other toys, plus very few music devices are waterproof anyway.

Material / Texture

The Freestyle G-Spot Vibrator is made of hard plastic with absolutely no give and an extremely smooth, almost velvety coating over it. This is separated only by a glossy silver band around the base that houses the controls. The plastic is non porous and phthalates free, it rates an 8 on the EF safety scale and can be washed by warm soap and water but cannot be sterilized meaning it cannot be shared between partners unless a condom is used. It has a very mild smell (not unpleasant) but no taste.

Design / Shape / Size

When my Freestyle G-Spot Vibrator first arrived I was surprised by it's girth, I expected a very slender toy and what arrived in it's place was a toy with a more moderate girth and a circumference of 3.75 inches, and while I recognize this isn't very large, it is more than i was expecting. The design of this toy is very simple, the entire unit of the toy is a smooth cylinder with a standard circumference along the entire length until the last inch which curves upwards and comes to a point. This point is designed for g-spotting and when I first received the toy I though that the firm material would be perfect for providing pin-point pressure to my g-spot. Unfortunately I found that the tip was far too pointy and narrow and instead felt like it was repeatedly scratching me internally each time I thrust. I also tried the pinpoint tip clitorally and although I prefer broad stimulation I think this might be too sharp for even fans of the most pinpoint vibrations. I wish they had made the tip just a little more broad because otherwise I really enjoyed rest of the toy but the constant scratching just took far too much from the experience.

The Freestyle-G has a rather petite frame which makes it relatively easy to travel with and unintimidating for beginners but if anyone were to notice it they would certainly know what it is so use discretion when traveling and storing it if that is something that matters to you.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The functions and performance of this toy are what makes it truly unique and they are controlled by the buttons on the tip.

When the toy is twisted so that the square is selected it works as a "lock" feature and the toy will not turn on if it is bumped. The problem is it seems to work kind of strange for me, for example if the toy was running and I switched it to the "stop" signal it didn't work as an immediate shut off, it just kept running. To the left of the square is a music note which sets the toy to respond to whatever music you have playing.

The transmitter plugs into the music device and then the headphones plug into the transmitter so you can hear the music. The toy connects wirelessly to the transmitter and vibrates to the beat of the music. One thing I was upset by was that the vibrations responded to the volume of the music, meaning that to get the relatively strong vibrations that I require I needed to have the music a bit louder than I would have preferred. The vibrations respond best to a song with a heavy bass-line so I found Deadmau5 to work pretty well, although sometimes it seemed like there is a delay between the music and the vibrations which was a bit dissociating at times.

If you are in too much of a rush to hook up the music you can always switch to the third option ((7)) which has 7 pre-programed functions.

1. Low
2. Medium
3. High
4. Slow Revving
5. Slow Pulsing
6. Faster Pulsing
7. Cha Cha Cha

Use the + to turn the toy on and escalate through the functions and the - to move backwards through the functions.

The vibrations can be felt throughout the entire toy and are somewhat buzzy but they have yet to make me go numb. They are also somewhat quiet, and couldn't be heard through a closed door, making the almost mechanical buzzing that I have come to associate with rechargable toys. Freestyle G is rechargable and the charge wire plugs securely into a covered port on the base.

    • Discreet sound
    • Lots of variety in function
    • Multiple settings

Care and Maintenance

The Freestyle G-spot is very easy to care for, simply wipe it down with soap and warm water or a toy cleanser. It is not waterproof so be sure not to submerge it but the small rubber stopper will protect the charge port enough so that you can easily wash it in a sink.

I store mine in the packaging it arrived in but you could also easily store it in the small silk like pouch they give you when you purchase the toy. It does not collect dust the way a silicone toy would so I find that I don't usually need to wash it before use, only after.
    • Easy to clean
    • Easy to store

Packaging

I was quite impressed with the packaging from OhMiBod, although it was quite large considering the size of the toy. The toy comes in a white hard cardboard box with a picture of the toy on the lid. When you first open it there is a direction manual and once you move this you can see the toy. Under the toy is the small storage bag, it also contains the wireless transmitter (with batteries) the charger, and three different international adapters for the charger.

I don't need the adapters and they seem a bit superfluous but they are a nice touch, I do not recognize the adapters but I have included a photograph for those who need it.

    • Good for storage
    • Not discreet
    • Would make a nice gift

Experience

While I do enjoy the toy I probably won't be using it very often. The ability to sync with my music to give me a multi-sensory experience is really unique but the pointed tip is just too sharp for my preference. When thrusting it feels like it is scratching at my g-spot instead of massaging it and it is distracting. While I could use it clitorally I prefer toys that can be inserted. Also I was disappointed when I found how cheap the metallic band around the control panel were, the icons that were on there are already almost entirely worn away and I have not used that toy that much. The "lock" feature has also been pretty glitchy, as I said earlier, it doesn't work as an automatic shut off and there are times when the toy is off and I rotate it to the locked setting and it turns itself on! It is possible that this is a defective product though, but I don't know for sure because when it's not spazzing like that it works fine. Since this toy was free through a contest on Eden I don't feel the need to complain but if I had paid full price for it I might be more upset. On the other hand this toy did peak my interest in other OhMiBod products such as the Freestyle or the Club Vibe 2.0. They didn't jump to the top of my list and for the time being I will settle for listening to my music while using other toys but eventually I think they would be certainly worth trying.
