Wanderlust - rabbit vibrator by Vibratex - review by Breas

The Wanderlust rabbit style vibrator by Vibratex arrived in a clear, rectangular plastic package. The toy can be seen through the package so I wouldn’t consider it to be discreet. The front and back of the packaging have the same information stated on it: the company name, and product name. On the sides of the packaging you can find a few stated product details and features. The packaging can be used for storing the toy when it’s not being used or you could use a storage pouch (not included). The packaging can be recycled.

Inside of the plastic package, Wanderlust sits upright surrounded with plastic. The first thing I noticed was that the colour of the actual product is much lighter than in the stock photo. My favourite colour is purple and I loved the colour in the stock photo. The actual colour is more of a pinkish purple. This isn’t a big deal but I figured it was worth mentioning.

Wanderlust is made of elastomer and the base of the toy is a hard plastic. The elastomer is very soft and squishy. When I ran the Wanderlust across my skin, there was a bit of drag. This is easily remedied with lubricant. Both water based and silicone based lubricants can be used with the toy.

I’ve taken a couple measurements of the toy but if you need additional measurements, let me know and I will get them for you.

Total insertable length: 4 ¼ inches
Length of clitoral arm (taken on inner area of piece): 1 ¾ inches
Distance between shaft and clitoral arm (not stretched): 1 inch
Width of clitoral arm: 1 ½ inches
Circumference of shaft: 3 ¾ -5 inches

The shaft has a bulged texture. The first bulge at the top of the toy has a circumference if 4 ¾ inches. The second bulge has a circumference of 4 inches and the third bulge is 3 ¾ inches. The bottom of the insertable portion has a circumference of 5 inches. I actually really like the texture. It can be felt when inserted but it’s not painful or uncomfortable. Like I had mentioned, the material is squishy so that makes it a lot more comfortable as well.



There is a seam line that runs vertically up the back of the shaft and around to the front. I couldn’t feel the seam line when I used the toy. One odd thing I found about the appearance is that it looks like my toy has a few warts. There are little tiny nubs on the back of the arm and one on the shaft. This was just from the moulding I assume but it does look funky. You can see them in the photo below.



The clitoral arm has a nice width (see measurements above). There are long squishy nubs on the inner area of the clitoral arm that are used to tickle the area. These nubs are approximately 2/8 of an inch in length and there are a total of 9 of them.



The clitoral arm can be flexed backwards and pulled away from the shaft quite a bit because of the squishy material. This allows for a bit of adjustment with the clitoral arm when using the toy. I personally have never had any issues with the distance between the arm and the shaft with the rabbits I tried in the past so this really isn’t an issue for me but I know others have a hard time finding a rabbit that works for them.



The toy requires 3x AA batteries, which are not included. The battery compartment can be found at the back of the base. The compartment door slides downwards to access the battery compartment. Accessing the battery compartment is very easy and I had no issues with the door not wanting to slide upwards or downwards.



At the front of the toy’s base, you can find two sliding tabs. These sliding tabs are what you use to control the vibration speed. This is probably one of the easiest rabbit controllers I’ve ever seen.



The tab on the left hand side controls the vibration level and speed of the rotation of the shaft. When the tab is all the way at the top, the toy is off. As you lower the tab, the speed increases. That to me is sort of backwards, but it’s easy to get the hang of. The tab on the right hand side controls the vibration level of the clitoral arm. The more you lower the tab, the higher the vibration level becomes. The fact that the shaft and arm can be controlled separately is nice. You can have both on at the same time, or just one.

The noise level is really high to this toy. I’ve never been distracted by the noise of a toy before, until now. I like to max out the power of my toys and on the highest setting to the Wanderlust it’s scary loud. It can be heard from beneath the covers and through a closed door.

The noise level increases as you increase the power so if you have it on the lowest settings, it won’t be as noisy. The shaft is the noisier of the two. I would not recommend this toy if you’re looking for discreet sound because you will not find it with the Wanderlust.

The vibrations go to quite a high speed but sadly, they are buzzing vibrations rather than rumbling vibrations. I need strong, rumbling vibrations to be satisfied so the buzzy vibrations just didn’t cut it for me. The vibrations are probably a 4 out of 5 but remember this is buzz vibration. When you need the rumble like I do, a 4 out of 5 buzz translates to a 1 or 2 rumble.

I really liked the rotating head. It felt great when inserted and I love the bulged texture to it. The clitoral arm really didn’t work for me for a few reasons. The first of the reasons is because of the buzzing vibrations, which I’ve already explained. The second reason is that the nubs are ticklers. When I use toys, I don’t really want a tickle. The tickling feeling would be okay to begin with, but after awhile I need the pressure. That leads me to the third reason: with the flexibility and squishy material of the clitoral arm, it doesn’t have the pressure I need to be satisfied.

Wanderlust is porous so you’ll want to cover the toy with a condom if you plan on sharing it. The toy can be cleaned with a mild soap and water, toy wipes, or a toy cleaning spray. I just used toy wipes to clean Wanderlust. The toy does seem to collect lint and pet hair so you may want to clean the toy both before and after each use. If you decide to clean the toy with soap and water, be sure not to get any water near the base of the toy since it is not waterproof. I’d suggest using a damp cloth instead.

Overall, this toy didn’t cut it for me. I received Wanderlust as an assignment but if I had paid the regular price for the toy, I’d be angry. It’s quite expensive and has similar traits to a ten-dollar bullet. It’s buzzy, loud, and not waterproof. The toy may work for someone who prefers buzzing vibrations and who does not care about noise level being heard or distracting you while using it.

Wanderlust found a new home quite a while ago-- the garbage. Typically I will sterilize toys that don't work for me and either give them away or put them on the Eden Classifieds. Wanderlust is made of elastomer though, which cannot be sterilized. Writing this follow up review makes me sad because I had high hopes for this toy and it failed miserably. For the regular price of $74.99, it should have been much better. R.I.P Wanderlust.
