PowerGem purple - rabbit vibrator by Cal Exotics - review by Southern Lady

When I first opened this package, I thought "Birdie, you can peck on my branch any day!" This was my first rabbit, and I couldn't wait to try it out! This is a very pretty purple vibrator with a cute little bird attached to the shaft. The size of this vibrator could frighten a beginner, but as with any new toy, there is a learning experience. I would not suggest this as a first vaginal vibrator, but it would be fine for a first dual-action vibrator and for the rotations.

The Powergem is designed to stimulate the clitoris and the g-spot, but it also works well for nipple stimulation and teasing all over the body. The rotation of the head felt great on my vaginal wall with the textured nubs and the rotating beads by using a little pressure to gently massage that inner sweet place as the shaft was thrust. I love the girth (4 3/4") to give me that "full" feeling which increases the pleasure, but this could also be uncomfortable for someone not used to this much girth. In the beginnng, the woodpecker's beak felt a bit "pointy" and did not "match" up to my clit, but with more practice, I have learned to maneuver the bird and the beads to unite into an explosion of pleasure!

This toy, while it is strong, is quite loud. I would not recommend using this in a roommate situation where someone could hear. I think the kids could hear this outside my door, so I use this more when we are alone. Actually, this is the one I pull out when hubby is gone because it's easier for me to get it all positioned in the right spots for maximum benefit.

I do not take this one when I travel. It could discreetly fit into a sock in your suitcase, but it is 10" in length and just bulky to carry along, so I grab something smaller/more compact when I need to travel.

This toy is made of jelly which feels smooth and rubbery, allowing it to be flexible and feel more natural while inside the vagina. It is porous, so I don't recommend sharing this toy. I didn't notice any odor that others complain experiencing when opening a jelly toy.

The shaft has a texture of light swirls, and the head that rotates has raised nubs that feel wonderful and not overwhelming - for even a person that isn't used to texture. A more advanced user might not find this textured enough. The beads in the center rotate and when in the right spot, provides a pleasant stimulation as I thrust against the wall of my vagina.

The size of the Powergem can be intimidating at first, and I really believe this toy is for someone experienced with toys used for vaginal insertion. It is 10" long, and the package says 6" are insertable, but I could only insert 5" - but that could just be me. The base is actually 7" in circumference which makes it very easy to grasp. The girth of the shaft is large measuring 4 3/4" in circumference, and it really gives your muscles something to "grab onto." The bird, located on the shaft, seems a bit hard, and his beak is slightly "pointy" which can be a matter of preference.

The vibrations for the beak that is designed to stimulate the clit are strong, but there are two settings, and I often leave it on the lower setting. I have a shallow g-spot, so the toy is really a bit long for me, and thus making the bird and the g-spot not line up for everyone. It has taken some practice, but I have learned to make it work now I like it much better.

The design of this toy is far from discreet, and after hubby and I had taken this bird for a test flight, he strongly recommended that I place this somewhere that it couldn't be discovered by young eyes that would quickly figure out what it was.

There are four controls on the base of the toy that turn the shaft on/off and rotate the direction of the beads/head. The other two controls turn the clit stimulator (woodpecker) on/off and adjust the strength of the vibration to high or low. If you are using this solo, it could be very easy to hit a wrong button or bump a button and accidentally change the rotation/speed of the controls or even turn it off. It is hard to see the controls, and you just have to memorize their location.

This toy lives up to its name with power - both for the g-spot and the clit. There is dual action located in the bird and at the end of the shaft. The head rotates in a circular motion, rubbing the nubs more against your cervical area if inserted all the way. The beads in the center rotate for a pleasurable stimulation - especially if you change the direction of their rotation rapidly. The bird vibrates to "peck" or stimulate the clitoris and these vibrations are strong - especially for a beginner.

It operates on 4 AA batteries that are inserted at the bottom of the base. My batteries have lasted me for awhile, but I do remove them when not in use because they could be easily bumped and use their energy to give the drawer a ride and be depleted when I need a ride. This Powergem is also VERY loud. It can probably be heard outside the bedroom door - even under the covers.

The big downfall to this vibrator is that it is NOT waterproof. I have to be very careful washing this toy not to get water on the base, but it's large enough to grip, so it hasn't been too much of a problem keeping it dry.

I find this birdie very easy to care for. It is made of jelly, so it can be cleaned with a mild cleaner and warm water before and after use. I use lube with this, and it is safe to use a water-based or silicone-based lubricant. Be careful, in storage, not to allow this toy to touch other toys because there can be a chemical reaction in this material causing it to melt another toy. I've had this happen with another toy, so be careful to keep it isolated, and you will be fine. I wrap a washcloth around it and store it in a designated drawer to keep it from touching other toys, and it's not a problem.

The packaging was very secure for this toy. There wasn't anything about the packaging I felt was useful later, and there weren't any instructions; however, it did a great job of protecting the powerbird. The toy is quite visible and not discreet at all!

My initial experience was not as good as I had hoped. It's kind of like "your eyes are bigger than your stomach" kind of thing. I loved the looks of this big, juicy purple vibrator, and not having experienced texture and such strong vibrations before, I felt it was a little intense. Since this was my first rabbit, I was determined not to give up on it.

I really believe it is ok for a beginner to rabbit vibrators as long as you realize it may take some "practicing" to make it "perfect". I would not, however, recommend it to someone new to vibrators in general. I went on to experiment with it and loved it on other parts of my body and even turned the bird "upside down" while inserted, and it gave wonderful sensations as the bird pecked the south side as well. Now, this is my favorite for when my husband is gone!
