The Little Engine That Almost Could

This was a freebie from Eden. I suspect that for those who prefer a softer vibe that this will be a delight. It would travel well in a makeup bag and would be great to take along to let off steam and the waterproof design and easy to use push button use would be very nice to have. It just simply didn't work for me.

Use

I got this as a freebie with my order for signing for the Eden Fantasy mailing list and what a sweet little bonus it is too! It's super cute in bubble gum pink and I didn't know it at first, but it has two speed settings; a nice little teaser setting and a medium persistently intense vibe that "almost" got me over the top.

The bubble gum pink color is not subtle, but it would drop into a makeup bag very easily. It is great for direct clitoral stimulation or for general outer genital stimulation. This is NOT safe inserted anally as there is not flange, and vaginally it is only safe to use at the opening with a maximum safe insertion of 3 inches. There is a flange-like flare near the switch, but this is small enough that it could get sucked into a vagina or anus very easily.

Sadly, this just didn't do it for me, even when I tried using a heating/excitement gel, and then it still didn't even get me that aroused. I do require direct and strong vibes, so this may work for some who only require gentle stimulation to get over that hill.

Material / Texture

This is a water proof plastic toy with a safety rating of 8 (there is no specification that I can find of which type). While it is made of a hard plastic, the surface texture has a really pleasant velvety/powdery matte quality to it that does not drag. The vibrator is vaguely phallic shaped.

There is a hard plastic shiny "chrome-look" ring at the junction where you unscrew the toy for changing batteries.

The toy has a very mild "new car" plastic smell to it, but I had to literally bring it to my nostrils to smell it. This odor is imperceptible in every day use.

Design / Shape / Size

Made out of ABS (Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene), a thermoplastic. Which is non-porous and has a safety rating of 8. My Little Honey #9 is bubble gum pink, but also is in stock in a much more discreet black.

Dimensions:

Total Length: 4.75 inches
Insertable length: 3 inches (safely)
Circumference at widest point: 3.25 inches
Circumference at narrowest point: 2.25 inches

The product description says that the diameter is 1", which would be at the largest point in the bulbeous end. Being a product of the public school system and bing almost 4 decades out of High School, I have long lost the ability to calculate diameter, so I will have to trust Eden on this score.

Requires one AA battery (in a very tight battery compartment)

With a bulbous insertion or vibe tip, the toy then narrows in the center and then widens out again as you move from the neck to the bottom and ends with a cone shaped end with the push button controller at the tip.

The Honey has very subtle indented ridging in a vertical pattern along the length of the shaft. This shaping was very pleasant if I rocked or barely twirled the vibe in my finger tips while applying the vibrating tip of the toy to my clit.

This slightly ergonomic feeling design coupled with the pleasant matte finished plastic makes this very pleasant to hold and twirl in one's fingers.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The vibrator does not come with batteries. When I unscrewed the cap to put the first battery in, I didn't see any o-ring that would make this safely water-proof. The first battery I put in didn't work, and the tunnel opening that the battery goes into has a paper or really light card board wrapper around the inner circumstance of the Honey, that I assume is designed to dampen the noise (which it doesn't, but I'll get to that in a moment). When I tried to remove the battery it wouldn't come out. I had to fling the battery and use force to get it to come out (if you have to do this be careful and aim at a pillow or other safely padded surface).

With the second battery, I still didn't notice an o-ring, and was really doubtful that it was in fact truly water-proof.

There is one push button switch that handle on/off and cycles through two speeds. This button is white rubber and feels very secure and has a grippy tactile quality that makes it easy to find and use one handed.

The first setting is a buzzy feeling one vroom and two bees, and the second level is also very buzzy feeling, three vrooms and three bees. I felt that this was underpowered, yet noisy for the vibes it was producing. The vibrations the Honey produces are strictly surface level and never reach any kind of depth (on me at least.)

After trying the toy in several different positions, with heating gel and still not getting any where with it, it was clear that this was not a welcomed addition to my toy box, so I tried to drown it (really, it was in the name of science and good product testing). I dunked it in a tall glass of water and tried the vibe on both speed settings, then dried it and my hands off completely. When I opened the battery compartment, to my amazement it was bone dry. I then looked really closely and the chrome colored hard plastic ring at the opening for the battery actually holds and incredibly small and clear o-ring. So if this vibrator works for you, as long as you securely twist on the top when you insert your battery, then it is in fact fully water proof.

On one small upside, because this is underpowered, there was no itching or numbness in my hands from prolonged use.

Care and Maintenance

Because this is plastic and non-porous, anti-bacterial wipes, bleach, soap and water can all be used successfully. I washed mine in warm water and used antibacterial soap and it cleaned up very nicely. This plastic toy is not safe to boil or run through the dishwasher.

I just toss it into my toy box, and being plastic, I don't worry about what its next to. It does not pick up lint or cat hair and accepts any type of lube I want to use at the time (including heating gels). I even tried silicone lube on it and it washed off nicely and as expected.

Packaging

The toy arrived in a cardboard box with a clear plastic window, which is not discreet. The toy is manufactured in China so the information on the box is a bit "spotty". It does say on the front of the box that it is water proof and gives the dimensions in centimeters. The side panel shows the 3 colors available (pink, black, and blue), and states that it is made of ABS and requires 1AA battery.

And then the back of the box gets odd, stating that "The first factory that obtained the manufacturing certificate, sales registration certificate and export sales certificate authorized by National Medical Supervisory Bureau. No Medical claims are warranted or implied by the use of this product. Sold as a novelty only. Sex toys bring more erotic pleasure to the world!"

Okie dokie. Once again, proof that they just do stuff differently in China and duly noted.

There is a cardboard hang tag designed into the box that reiterates that "this is sold as a novelty only and that sex toys bring more erotic pleasure to the world." (At least the ones that are powered right do)

When I opened the box the vibe was safely nestled in a form fitting clear plastic box insert.

You can use the box and insert for storage if you want, but you could fit several of these toys in the volume of the box. My storage space is at a premium, so I recycled the packaging.

Personal comments

I have chronic pain issues and am always trying these things out as alternate massage devices, and this even failed at that for me. For some reason the particular speed and strength of the vibration made my muscles start to cramp.

I was really disappointed as I love fit, finish, color and aesthetics in my toys almost as much as function. This toy definitely has it in aesthetics for color and design and I truly wanted it to work for me.

Experience

When I turned the Little Honey #9 on for the first time and at the first setting, I knew I couldn't. I was hopeful as I put the hammer down for the second speed setting, and I really thought "I think I can, I think I can", but I couldn't. And just like that little engine, I gave it one more go with heating gel, again, hoping that I could... but this little engine, just didn't make it up and over that hill.

I should reiterate. I require a fairly strong and consistent vibe and this was just too under powered for me. It's not safe to insert very far and my g-spot starts right where this toys safe to insert point ends. So this was really and sadly a no go for me. Your mileage can certainly vary.

This toy isn't super loud, but its not quiet either. You could safely use it under the blankets with the door closed, but there's no way you'd feel private using it anywhere more public than that with out the risk of someone hearing it.

Follow-up commentary
This is such a cute vibe and would be great for anyone who has a sensitive clit or needs smaller toys. Sadly, I'm on the opposite end of both of those spectrums and this still isn't working for my needs.

I have given it a couple more tries and it's ok for a warm up, but it doesn't even get me close to cumming. I simply need a rumbly 4 vroom toy.
