Vroom on a budget

The Basix jelly vibe is great for beginners, or those who have always wanted an egg that can be inserted into the vagina (because it's moisture resistant). The vibrations have a complete range from mild to extremely intense. The price is fantastic, so any complaints are quickly forgotten when you remember how little you paid for it.

Use

The Basix egg is just that...basic. While not all bullets are created the same, the concept is simple and the Basix Jelly Egg gets the job done as well as, or better than other, more expensive vibes. Basix has a similar bullet that adds an extra layer of waterproof rubber, but the functionality remains the same with both. One thing that you will notice quickly with this vibe, is that it's not quiet. You will not want to use this toy if discretion is warranted. The positive side to the noise is that the intensity level is top notch. If either you or your partner need strong vibration to achieve orgasm, then this toy fits the bill.

The Basix jelly egg can be used internally because it has a thin rubber layer to prevent moisture from entering the electronic parts. Keep in mind that only the egg is moisture resistant however, so don't go taking this into the shower with you. However, my primary use for this bullet is external and you or your partner can use it for clitoral stimulation and climax.

Material / Texture

The Basix jelly egg is made of plastic and rubber. The egg itself is plastic, but is coated with a thin rubber layer. The hand held control is plastic. I prefer the feel of rubber over basic plastic because, to me, it has slightly more texture to it and feels more high end.

For those who have experimented with a variety of vibrators, my guess is that you will think of this particular vibe as being cheap. There's a good reason for that...it is. But just because it doesn't cost a lot doesn't mean you can't have fun with it.

Design / Shape / Size

The Basic jelly egg is designed like most other wired bullets, but with the one advantage of having a rubber moisture resistant layer. This rubber layer covers the egg, as well as approximately 3 inches of the wire, so that you can utilize it for internal stimulation. I would not recommend this toy for g-spot stimulation however because there is no way to manipulate the egg. One option is to basically insert the egg and then adjust the vibration speed. This does nothing for me, but using the insertion technique plus another bullet for clitoral stimulation is a new experience worth trying.

The control unit is simple and easy to use because it's small enough to easily hold and control. The radial power control is simple; turn to the right to turn on and increase vibrations. You can start with a mild vibration and then crank it all the way up to extremely intense vibrations. I tend to need an intense bullet to achieve climax and this toy works every time. The control unit is also where the batteries are found. This particular vibe takes 2 AA batteries. Keep in mind that this is not a rechargeable vibrator. If you feel like the vibrations are not as intense as you have come to expect, then check your batteries. I typically prefer eggs that take 2 AA batteries as the AAA versions are not strong enough to help me reach climax. They also don't tend to last as long as their AA cousins.

The Basix is rigid enough that you could easily take it travelling without having to worry about it getting damaged. Keep in mind however, that this toy is not quiet, so you will not want to use it within earshot of strangers, unless you are looking for an audience. The noise can also be distracting for those who prefer it to be quiet. I for one, do find it distracting in the beginning, so I will generally place a blanket over myself to help muffle the noise.

Functions / Performance / Controls

This Basix jelly is is pretty basic. No need to crack open the instruction book (not that it even has one) on this one since it's pretty self explanatory right out of the box. Simply remove from packaging and give it a good rinse to clean off and unwanted particles from the packaging. I always like to give new toys a quick rinse. It's sort of like washing new dishes; probably not necessary, but not the worst idea either. Once clean, you will need batteries and 2-AA will do nicely. If you are sitting there in the middle of the night and can't find any, go directly to scavenge them from the TV remote.

When storing, it is probably a good idea to take at least one of the batteries out of the control unit. The egg is very easy to turn on, so an accidental buzzing from your closet or drawer is a realistic possibility. As I alluded to before, this is probably not the best vibe for a roommate scenario because of the noise.

There are no set speeds with this vibrator and the radial dial offers up all levels of intensity from almost imperceptible to jackhammer pleasure. As I mentioned above, my personal use is always external and I typically climax after a few minutes on the highest setting.

Care and Maintenance

The Basix jelly egg is very easy to care for and clean. The whole unit is durable, so there is no need to handle it with great care. The only thing I would be cautious of is not pulling the wires out of the egg and or the control unit. This can sometimes happen by accident if you kneel or roll over on the wire. Once those wires pull out of the egg especially, you may as well start looking for a new vibe.

Cleaning is also a breeze since the egg portion is covered with rubber. You can easily rise off with water and not have to worry about getting the wires wet. You can also use your favorite toy cleaner if you prefer.
